1. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
2. I used words such as “exclusive” and “unseen” as these draw the reader into thinking they are the first people to know this information. I also used the word “free” as it tricks the reader into thinking there is something free and makes them read the rest of the front cover. The cover lines didn’t use many catchy keywords and I didn’t plan what I was going to advertise on the front cover so it didn’t look very professional. Writing Style I used 1 photo on my front cover, a studio based shot I then used live shots on the contents page and a posted shot on my dps. I edited all these images using the levels tool on Photoshop, also using hue/saturation and many other tools. i only used 1 photo on the front cover, it was un-edited and squashed to fit into the A4 size, so the proportions were all wrong. Photography The front cover was quite simple as I didn’t want it to look overcrowded as this could put the audience off. My dps was structured in columns as it is neat and easy to read. The contents page was set in a box format as this looks neat. The layout on my preliminary task was very simple and had no set structure as I made it in a very short space of time. I didn’t position any of the cover lines or masthead. Layout I had purple as the main colour and black and white for texts and black for backgrounds. I chose black and white as they contrast each other, whereas purple compliments both the colours. I left the colours on my college magazine very simple and bland. They were set colours from publisher and I didn’t lighten/darken any of them.. Colour Scheme I downloaded the fonts from dafont.com and added drop shadows and strokes to make the fonts fore grounded and attract the audience. I got the fronts from publisher, they were left un-edited and very simple. I did nothing to make these fonts stand out from the page such as shadows. Fonts
3. None edited masthead on the college magazine where as I edited using tools on photoshop for the music magazine. Different sized text for importance of articles. Un-edited photograph, not posed or planned out. The cover lines are not very clear, the background obstructs the lines from being able to be read in a clear way. Using different styles of presentation to advertise competitions and free give away.
