  • 2. 2 Farmington Community Gardens A Proposal to the Board of Selectmen The Farmington Community Gardens Stewardship Committee would like the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Farmington, NH to grant them the use of the fenced in area of town land lot # U11-030 (Water Tower/Bay Road) to develop and implement a Community Garden Space for the citizens of Farmington to use for the purpose of gardening. U 111- 030

  • 4. 4 Farmington Community Gardens Farmington Community Gardens Mission Statement The Farmington Community Gardens is a community project sponsored by the Farmington Democratic Committee. The Community Garden Stewardship Committee maintains, coordinates, and supports the Community Gardens as a site for public gardening using community owned land in the Town of Farmington. The use of both individual and communal gardening spaces for growing fruits, vegetables, and herbs enhances and supplements the nutritional needs of our citizens. The Committee believes that promoting the growth of fruits, vegetables, and herbs using ecologically friendly and green gardening initiatives will foster healthy and sustainable gardening practices, aid in the nutritional support of our citizens, and provide a beneficial use for town land that develops the environmental, ecological, and nutritional literacy of our community.

  • 12. 12 Farmington Community Gardens Farmington Community Gardens Bylaws Article V Financial Responsibility Fiscal Year : December 1 – November 30 Financial records include checks, statements, receipts Account will be managed by the Stewardship Treasurer, in conjunction with the Treasurer of the Farmington Democratic Committee sponsor, as a separate account managed by the Farmington Democratic Committee.
  • 13. 13 Farmington Community Gardens Farmington Community Gardens Bylaws Article VI Dissolution Town retains ownership, and right to dissolve Assets will be transferred to the Farmington Democratic Committee Sponsor Any funds will be used to support or sponsor a Farmington Community Project Any records will be held by the Farmington Democratic Committee for legal time period before being destroyed
  • 14. 14 Farmington Community Gardens Farmington Community Gardens Adoption of Bylaws Farmington Democratic Committee Bylaws are in draft at this time Community Gardens Subcommittee developed Bylaws Wait until Selectmen approve the project Farmington Democratic Committee meets Thursday, April 12.

  • 16. 16 Farmington Community Gardens Farmington Community Gardens Next Steps Upon Clearing of the Land by the Town Mark the land, establish sites and spaces Communal Garden spaces Individual Garden Spaces Composting area Water Collection area Paths Flower garden spaces Plant cover crop to prevent erosion Set up water collectors Start communal garden Begin individual gardening as needed Maintain the Gardens inside spaces and surrounding areas.
