Same-sex Marriage Lecture 6: In marriage redefined countries we see the decline of religions and the growth of an ever more oppressive government

Redefining marriage brings about social change. A small part of this change is positive, but it also brings about a lot of negative social outcomes too. This lecture looks at how religions automatically go into decline in countries that redefine marriage. In their place, the state sets about redefining right and wrong based on the changing views of the political class. Since these new definitions are often at odds with what people know to be right or wrong, the only way for the state to keep these new values in place is through fear. Society is left without the timeless principles that are found within most religions - and totalitarianism creeps in.

Same-sex Marriage Lecture 6: In marriage redefined countries we see the decline of religions and the growth of an ever more oppressive government

  1. 1. LECTURE SERIES: WHY THE REDEFINITION OF MARRIAGE TO INCLUDE SAME-SEX MARRIAGES HARMS FUTURE SOCIETIES AND WHAT OTHER OPTIONS EXIST 1 LECTURE 6: THE DECLINE OF RELIGION – AND THE GROWTH OF A NEW, EVER-CHANGING UNDERSTANDING OF RIGHT AND WRONG – WRITTEN BY THE POLITICAL CLASS. PUT SIMPLY, A MOVEMENT TOWARDS TOTALITARIANISM (PLEASE START WITH LECTURE 1)
  2. 2. THE QUESTION WE ARE ASKING IN THIS LECTURE IS HOW DOES REDEFINING MARRIAGE From this Two opposite-sex adults making a commitment to work together to fulfil the RIGHT of their future biological children to the best possible start in life To this Any two adults making a commitment to each other based on mutual, sexual attraction Bring about the weakening of religions – and ultimately a rise in the ability of political class to create an ever changing understanding of right and wrong based on the political favour of the day 2
  3. 3. THE WORLD AND RELIGIONS HAVE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE. Social acceptance of homosexual behaviour is not a new phenomenon. As archaeologists uncovered Pompeii they were astounded at how incredibly sexualised Roman society was – with statues of men fornicating with animals and an understanding that it was Ok for men to have sex with young boys. The Greeks too engaged in same-sex sex. 3
  4. 4. BUT THESE CULTURES DECAYED IN A LARGE PART BECAUSE FORMING TRUSTING, NON-ABUSIVE COMMUNITIES IS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN SEXUALITY ENTERS INTO EVERY FORM OF RELATIONSHIP.  So early Christianity, which was framed within the marriage centred framework of Judaism, created a new social morality around the use of sexuality – encouraging it to be used primarily within the confines of heterosexual marriage so as to best protect children  Many Christians died in order to create a society that accepted that sexuality was best expressed within the boundaries of a heterosexual marital home. Other faiths also seek social wellness through encouraging the heterosexual marital family norm. 4
  5. 5. WE ALL BENEFIT TODAY FROM THE SOCIAL STABILITY THAT THE HETEROSEXUAL MARITAL-FAMILY NORM PROVIDES  This - A NORM THAT IS INHERENT IN CHRISTIANITY AND JUDAISM morality has protected Europe for some two thousand years, eventually allowing for the growth of democratic, flourishing societies.  This being so most churches and other faiths have no choice to oppose the redefinition of marriage because they understand some or all of the harmful consequences that redefinition will create for future generations of children. 5
  6. 6. SADLY, IN MARRIAGE-REDEFINED COUNTRIES MANY POLITICIANS AND THE MEDIA KEEP PLACING THE DISHONEST ‘YOU’RE A BIGOT’ LABEL ON RELIGIONS THAT OPPOSE REDEFINITION  With such a misleading label, many young people will leave the religious traditions they were raised in – they don’t want to be labelled a bigot by their peers  In countries where redefinition has taken place teenagers of faith who try to express their disagreement with samesex marriages in the classroom are often criticized heavily, accused of bigotry and some have been sent home from from school.  Children raised in faith families have to be silent or give up on their beliefs. 6
  7. 7. IN A SOCIETY WHERE THE STATE HAS REDEFINED MARRIAGE – RELIGIONS GO INTO DECAY – IT JUST HAPPENS Religions will have to decide what stance they take in a marriage redefined society:  Do they continue their fight against the law change and die because they are dishonestly branded as bigots  Or do they agree with the state, watch the heterosexualmarital family go into decline – and watch church attendance decline because the main attendees are typically married heterosexuals with children  The law change brings about the death to religion either way.  With religions decaying the heterosexual, marital-family values that religions teach also start to become ever more 7 distant from people’s lives 
  8. 8. ONCE THE STATE HAS PUT RELIGION ON THE PATH TO DECAY - WHO WILL BE THERE TO PROMOTE THE VALUES OF THE HETEROSEXUAL MARITAL-FAMILY – THE ONLY FORM OF MARITAL-FAMILY THAT CAN SUSTAIN THE HUMAN RACE OVER GENERATIONS? The state? It can’t.  If the state suddenly wakes up one day to realise the enormous social and financial costs of letting the heterosexual maritalfamily decay, in a marriage redefined world the state is no longer free to just support the heterosexual, marital-family norm in order to bring about better social outcomes .  To do so would be seen to be bigoted against same-sex and group marriages. It would have to promote all forms of marriage – even forms of marriage that have poor outcomes for children. 8  Its hands will be tied – society locked into social decay 
  9. 9. WESTERN DEMOCRACIES ARE FOUNDED ON JUDAIC AND CHRISTIAN VALUES. THE INDIVIDUAL VALUE OF EACH PERSON, THE 10 COMMANDMENTS, AND MANY OTHER VALUES HAVE PLAYED THEIR ROLE IN CREATING THE LAWS THAT GOVERN OUR SOCIETY  So, as religion declines, who ultimately becomes the new creator of social morality – defining what might be acceptable and unacceptable behaviour? Who defines Right and Wrong?  Without religion, it becomes the state – or more truthfully - various key supporters in government with their own social agendas to pursue.  And when the state starts forming morality then the potential for abuse is immense. It is the basis for the start of totalitarianism, nations where people live in fear. 9
  10. 10. IN SOCIETIES WHERE RELIGIONS DECAY AND POLITICIANS START TO CREATE A NEW MORALITY THEN FEAR OF GETTING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THOSE IN POWER STARTS TO DOMINATE. This is exactly what has happened in countries where marriage has been redefined. Morality became twisted.  Good, decent people who have really valid concerns about the future well-being of children are called evil-minded bigots – are even fined and locked up - and people who create ever poorer outcomes for future generations of children are called fair-minded progressives who care about the world, and are given positions where they can do even more harm.  What society sees as right and wrong was changed through political means.  A government who can jail or fine you has the power. 10  And people live in fear of being proclaimed a bigot 
  11. 11. IN REDEFINING MARRIAGE THE POLITICAL SYSTEM CUTS ITSELF OFF FROM ITS RELIGIOUS ROOTS AND FROM THE TIMELESS PRINCIPLES THAT FORM THE BASIS FOR DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT With religions being seen as bigoted, they go into decay, and the state starts to form it’s own values based on the political flavour of the day.  We have no idea where this will end up – but from the start we see totalitarianism in the making. Even from the start we see:  Parents loosing their right to educate their children as they see fit  People being fined and locked up for expressing their opinions based on timeless, healthy principles that align with Mother Nature’s ways  The state being willing to destroy the family building possibilities and the true sexual nature of millions of future children  And all so that some 2% of the population can feel better about themselves. 11
  12. 12. PUT SIMPLY, WHEN THE STATE SEEKS TO MAINTAIN THE LIE THAT MARRIAGE IS SOLELY ABOUT ADULTS’ RIGHTS AND NOT ABOUT THE RIGHTS OF CHILDREN TO THE BEST START IN LIFE       The heterosexual marital-family becomes destroyed This leads to ever more children suffering poorer outcomes and society showing ever higher levels of social distress This leads to society going bankrupt and ALL people suffering financial hardships The state has to destroy religion - the protector and supporter of the heterosexual marital family – because religion keeps reminding the state it is telling society a lie And finally, in order to keep the lie in place, democratic government slowly but surely turns into a totalitarian one – a society where fear dominates to make sure the lie isn’t exposed And ALL because the state doesn’t encourage some 2% of the 12 population to come up with a different name to call their unions
