UCH doctors received real time lectures from the UnitedStates of America & the United Kingdom.7. In a village, a malignant tumour of a boy thought to becancer was given correct diagnosis by a specialist viatelemedicine. The boy was treated and is fine.8. State-of-the-art laboratories atthe NABDA Centers of Excellence at Maiduguri, Nsukka and Port Harcourtthrough STEP-B sponsorship.• DNA Barcoding – Biotechnology to check the illegal trade inEndangered species.The Goole Sponshored two-year project will be devoted to enabling partnercountries use DNA barcode evidence to investigate and prosecute poaching crimesand international trafficking in CITES listed species amongst others.The Project, which is being coordinated by the National BiotechnologyDevelopment Agency (NABDA), aims to make DNA barcoding the gold standardfor identifying biological species, especially the endangered ones in the country.Nigeria has been selected to be one of the Six countries to participate in a project onthe Consortium for Barcode of Life (CBOL) on barcoding CITES species with a $ 3million grant from Googles Global Impact Awards.
