    • Department of Education Florida ESOL Endorsement & Performance Standards Portfolio Set-up
    • WHAT IS THE ESOL PORTFOLIO?
      • The ESOL Portfolio is a blue 3-ringed binder. All your ESOL & ESOL-Infused assignments are stored in this binder. Only Elementary Education and Secondary English Education Majors receive an Endorsement in ESOL. To attain this extra recognition an ESOL Portfolio needs to be completed which documents students having met all 25 ESOL Performance Standards.
    • 25 ESOL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
      • All 25 ESOL Performance Standards are to be met five (5) times each!
    • 25 ESOL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
      • ESOL PS 1 is about ESOL Law/Accountability & Policy
      • ESOL PS 2~4, 23 is about Culture
      • ESOL PS 5~8, 12 is about ESOL Methods
      • ESOL PS 9~11 is about Language Acquisition & Literacy
      • ESOL PS 13~18, 22 is about ESOL Planning, Curriculum & Materials Design
      • ESOL PS 19~21 is about ESOL Testing & Evaluation
      • ESOL PS 24 is about ESOL Programs
      • ESOL PS 25 is about ESOL & Special Needs
    • ESOL & ESOL-Infused
      • There are two types of ways in which you will come to consider the instruction of English Language Learners (ELLs). Through stand-alone ESOL dedicated courses, such as EDU 301, 304/354 and 404 as well as through ESOL-Infused courses.
      • ESOL-Infused courses have significant ESOL materials & content embedded within them.
    • How Do I Know What Assignments To Put In My ESOL Portfolio?
      • If a course contains a designated ESOL-Infused task, then the syllabi will highlight this and the ESOL Performance Standard(s) that it meets.
      • If you are unsure, refer to the Elementary Education or Secondary Education ESOL Crosswalk document.
    • How do I set up my ESOL Portfolio?
      • For your ESOL Portfolio, you will need:
      • • a 3 inch ringed blue binder

      • • 18 tab dividers (for Elementary Majors)
      • • 12 tab dividers (for Secondary English Majors)
    • How do I set up my ESOL Portfolio?
      • For your ESOL Portfolio, you will need:
      • • 12 or 18 tab labels, each with your ESOL course and ESOL-Infused course prefixes and numbers typed on them
    • How do I set up my ESOL Portfolio?
      • For your ESOL Portfolio, you will need:
      • • all necessary documents

      • To put in the plastic sleeve of the front cover the
      • Title Page Document

      • Next, you will need to:
      • 2) Put in the inside pocket of the front cover the
      • ESOL Performance Standards Course-by-Course Assignment Crosswalk
    •  
    • First, the Crosswalk goes into the inside front cover pocket
    • Next, 3) the Course-by-Course ESOL Artifact, Substitution & Remediation Index gets hole-punched and put in the rings as your first document

      • In this document, you are to list all the ESOL-related assignments your are placing within the ESOL Portfolio

    • What are all the necessary documents?
      • Next, you will need to:
      • 4) Put in the rings of the binder the
      • ESOL Performance Standards Check-off Document

      • 12 or 18 tab dividers and
      • Stick the labels for the ESOL & ESOL-Infused course prefixes and numbers onto the tabs

    • TURN YOUR FIRST TAB DIVIDER (EDU 301) OVER
    • What are all the necessary documents inside each tabbed section?
      • You will need to:
      • 6) Place within each tabbed section the following documents in order……..
    • i) The ESOL or ESOL-Infused Course Syllabus
    • ii) the actual ESOL and/or ESOL infused assignments
    • If the ESOL and/or ESOL-Infused Assignment was a bulky assignment, and it doesn’t fit into the ESOL Portfolio, fill out the FEAP substitution/bulk assignment form and place it in the appropriate place in the Portfolio
    • IF YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED THE NECESSARY AMOUNT OF ARTIFACTS FOR AN ESOL PERFORMANCE STANDARD TO HAVE BEEN MET (5 times minimum), THE ESOL COORDINATOR WILL RECOMMEND ACTIVITIES FOR YOU TO COMPLETE THAT WILL SATISFY THE PERFORMANCE STANDARD. IN THIS CASE, SECTION D OF THE COURSE-BY-COURSE ESOL ARTIFACT & REMEDIATION INDEX WILL BE FILLED OUT.

      • In the back cover plastic sleeve, insert the unsigned ESOL Performance Standard Portfolio Sign-Off Certificate
