  • 1. Vision Meeting 2 Event  Relationship  Church a Our DNA is loving community “If you’re here, you’re family” We get together and love people For me the most important thing It may not be the greatest service every week, but you will feel welcome If I don’t have love… Love each other deeply If service is too formal, its like inviting people to your house and asking them to dress formally Becomes awkward Like walking into a ballroom, where everyone is wearing tuxes – an atmosphere of formaility, not of intimacy Living room vs. family room All the furniture is nice, everything looks good – that’s where you entertain guests, everyone is polite, No one ever wants to go in there In the family room, that’s where people are themselves Dirty laundry, grape juice stains on carpet, But that’s where everyone likes to be That’s where you stay up until 1 in the morning talking That’s where the babies crawl around
  • 2. What about worship? Does God dwell in the living room or the family room? Both – God’s transcendence, God’s immanence We worship both Neither is better Can emphasize both Chinese service, needs to be more formal English, smaller, more intimate When you invite people into your living room, you talk about life, Think Creatively Attractional vs. missional Think Missional Don’t just think “what other people should do”
