2. Have you experienced that moment when you’re about to do something worthwhile but on the last second you
decide not to because you hear this small voice telling you that you can’t do it? I’m sure you did. We all have
experienced this actually and we all have this small voice inside of us that won’t shut up. That voice is called
self-doubt. It kills your confidence, keeps you from doing things that you love, and hinders your progress and
development. If self-doubt is not removed from your system as soon as possible, you will end up a lonely,
bitter, and miserable person. So if you don’t want to end up like that, here are ways on how to remove self-
doubt.
Educate yourself. The voice of self-doubt becomes louder when you know nothing about something
you want to accomplish. To silence that voice you must educate yourself, take classes, read books,
observe and learn from other people. When you’re knowledgeable you become empowered and that
removes self-doubt.
Be with positive people. Negativity is one of the results of self-doubt. It lets you focus on how things
can screw up instead of thinking how wonderful things can become. Being with positive people can
cure that because these people do not leave much room for self-doubt. They may also entertain self-
doubt every now and then but they do not let it hold them back. Surround yourself with optimistic
people to help you remove doubts.
3. Focus on goals. Focusing hard on your goals helps keep your mind away from negative thoughts
coming from self-doubt. Your goals should be something you really want to achieve. So that if ever
you fall or doubt along the way, it wouldn’t hurt your confidence but rather would only make you
stronger and go further. Always remember, when in doubt take the next small step towards your goal.
Learn to handle criticism. Criticism is usually followed by self-doubt especially if this person
doesn’t know how to receive and handle criticism. There will always be people who will always try to
turn you down each time you try to achieve something. When this happens, what you can do is take
what is positive from that criticism so you can learn from it and use the knowledge and wisdom to
make yourself stronger.
4. Find a mentor. Whenever we feel self-doubt, we tend to isolate ourselves and stay away from other
people. This will only make things worse. If you constantly doubt yourself then try to find people who
can help you battle self-doubt. Get to know them, learn from them, and if possible, make them your
mentor. This way you will always know that there is someone you can turn to for guidance, advice
and a dose of motivation.
Starting now, take the first step to overcoming your doubts. Remember that this little voice is coming from
you. It manifested from your negative thoughts. Therefore it’s only you who can stop it. When you overcome
self-doubt, you will be free.
