  1. 1. 7 Ways to Break Bad Habits By Daniel Harperhttp://ezhealthmanagement.com/blog/
  2. 2. Most of the things that you do are habitual. From the moment you wake up to the moment that you sleep, youfollow a series of habits. Your habits, good or bad, says a lot about who you are and what lifestyle you have. Ithas a powerful grip in your health that it can either destroy it or improve it. So if you want to have a betterquality of life, here are seven ways to break bad habits.Do it for 30 Days. This technique tells you to focus on one bad habit such as smoking, and NOT do it for thenext thirty days. That span of time will allow you to condition yourself to get rid of the bad habit. This alsoworks in developing a good habit such as exercising, just do it for thirty days and that will surely turn into ahabit as well.Perform a good ritual. The ritual mentioned is an action that you need to perform before a habit. Forexample, if you have the urge to smoke, finish a bubble gum first. If you’re on a diet and you have the urge toeat a cheeseburger, eat a fruit first. This will help break the usual cycle of a bad habit so you can get rid of iteasily.
  3. 3. Replace a bad habit. Removing a habit, especially a bad one, leaves you with a feeling of an empty space thatyou need to fill. This could trigger a new set of bad habits to replace the old one. So make sure that you replacea bad habit with a good one. For example, if you want to cut back on television, make sure that you use thatfree time to exercise or do something productive.Do it one at a time. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you need to get rid of your habits, do it one at atime. Just focus on one bad habit first, get rid of it completely, and then move on to the next.
  4. 4. Write it down. Goals are easier to achieve when it is clear and visible. If you have habits that you need to getrid of, write it down on a piece of paper like a to-do list and make sure that you place it somewhere that youcan always see it. When you’re done with one habit, write it off. That will give you a sense of accomplishmentand a way to see how you progress.Let others know. Making a public commitment motivates you to achieve your goals because people, especially those close to you will expect you to follow through. You can either tell people up front or usesocial media tools such as a blog, Facebook, or even Twitter to make that announcement. On top of that, you’lleven receive positive comments from people that will help you achieve your goals.
  5. 5. Reward yourself. When you successfully removed a bad habit in your system, it pays to somehow rewardyourself for your effort. When you do, always consider a healthy alternative. Let’s say you were able to cut-offsome TV time and replaced it with an exercise routine, buy yourself a pair of running shoes. That way it willmotivate you to turn running into a habit.Habits are just choices made daily. If you regularly make good choices then you make good habits. If youregularly make bad choices then you make bad habits. It’s simple as that. So before you decide to dosomething on a regular basis that you think you’ll have a hard time stopping, then it’s best to stay away from itthan suffer later on.
