The integration isbased around the MediaStore solution developed by Extended Content Solutions (ECS) which is built ontop of Oracle WebCenter Content. ECS MediaStore provides a simple but powerful user interface for theapproval and managing of images and other rich media.This white paper shows how the functionality of ECS MediaStore and WebCenter Content to managemedia, create renditions, collaborate on campaigns and approve content can be used to enhance thehandling of media assets in ATG.Content Management in ATGOracle ATG is a leading commerce platform with powerful tools to personalise and manage the onlinebuying experience. The product can be enhanced by integration with a Content Management system tohandle images, textual content and rich media, such as banners. This allows Oracle ATG to focus on whatit’s good at, i.e. helping users to find products, learn about new offerings and guiding them through thepurchasing experience. Meanwhile the Content Management system can be used to provide the assets tosupport Oracle ATG promotions, static content and even products.Oracle WebCenter Content is an obvious partner to ATG given its rich feature set, powerful capabilitiesand potential to share a future product roadmap. The out-of-the-box features of WebCenter Contentprovide standard Content Management capabilities such as versioning, renditioning, security andworkflow. Oracle WebCenter Content’s benefits are greatly extended by the ECS MediaStore solution.What is MediaStore?MediaStore is an Oracle WebCenter Content application developed by ECS. WebCenter Content is one ofthe core foundations of the Oracle WebCenter Suite. MediaStore allows business users to collaborate onrich media and approve images for publication.The main features of MediaStore are: Enterprise repository for images and rich media Automatic creation of thumbnails and renditions for publishing to multiple channels Simple interface for batch upload, download and approval of images and rich assets Images can be cropped into new revisions or new images Secure repository allows audited and controlled access to users Creation of promotional campaign Jobs with business user controlled access for third parties Image embargo and copyright compliance
  • 3. 3 Publishing content to ATG from Oracle WebCenter, Extended Content Solutions, 2011Integration ApproachThe MediaStore/ATG integration allows assets to be created and approved in Oracle WebCenter Contentand then published to Oracle ATG. The assets are transferred to ATG using REST Web Services andautomatically enter a publishing workflow. Figure 1 shows an overview of the publishing mechanism.Figure 1 – Publishing assets from WebCenter Content to ATGThe key features of the publishing architecture are: WebCenter content items are uploaded to ATG using REST services and stored asMedia External assets. Assets are assigned a unique id based on the WebCenter content id. Multiple renditions are uploaded for each asset using rules based on the assettype e.g. Product Image, Promotional Banner.The use of the MediaStore solution provides users with a simple and easy-to-use tool to manage andapprove images and rich media assets. The full steps to publish content to an ATG site are describedbelow.

Users upload rich media to MediaStore.Single images or complete folders can bedragged in together. Images renditions areautomatically created for example, athumbnail, website and mobile site images.2. Media Bank allows users to approveassets, collaborate with external users andcreate folders containing related artworkfor example for a campaign. Entire Jobs orcampaigns can be sent for approval andediting in one click.3. Users can choose to publish an image to ATGor MediaStore can be configured to auto-publish all images when they are approved.4. As well as images, users may configureHTML5 banners and contribute textualcontent using Oracle WebCentercontribution tools. The flexibility ofWebCenter Content allows users to makerapid changes to key areas of the site.5. Complete pages can be previewed in OracleWebCenter before publishing to ATG.

MediaStore publishes content to an ATGfile system or a shared area such as aContent Delivery Network (CDN).At the same time it calls an ATG RESTservice to upload the asset to the ATGrepository.7. Once MediaStore assets are published toATG they are treated like standard ATG assets.They can be included in promotions, assignedto Products and used to build pages using thestandard ATG Business Control Center interface.8. After all the assets have been publishedto ATG they can be deployed to productionand served to end-users. Standard ATGworkflows are used to manage andapprove content pages and controlpublishing to public facing sites.
  • 6. 6 Publishing content to ATG from Oracle WebCenter, Extended Content Solutions, 2011Benefits of IntegrationIntegrating the leading commerce engine with a state of the art media publishing tool based on themarket leading content management platform provides a number of key benefits: WebCenter Content provides powerful tools for managing assets including images, banners andtextual content. MediaStore provides a rich user interface with powerful features such as bulk uploading andapprovals. Business users can be given editorial access to content without requiring ATG tools. Jobs allow internal and third-party users to collaborate on campaigns securely. Preview functionality allows users to view a mock-up of the complete ATG page before it ispublished. Images renditions are automatically created based on asset type. Page creation and display remains with ATG.
