  • Hello and welcome to our webinar this afternoon. I am Simon Duong a data Quality Consultant here at Experian QAS and today I'm joined by Alex Attinger MD of digitalbox. In this webinar we will look at the changing contact data landscape and what this means for your organisation. We will explore the value of email and what you can be doing to make the most of your email database. Then Alex Attinger, CEO of digitalbox will discuss how using email validate has helped generate huge cost savings and increased potential revenue for his organisation. We will also be sharing our top tips on managing your pool of ever-evolving customer contact information with real-life examples.
  • So to kick things off Id like to introduce who are Experian QAS. Some of you may know us already so I will keep this brief.Experian QAS have built up exceptional market coverage assisting customers with their unique data quality challenges. We provide a comprehensive toolkit for data quality projects combining our market leading software with a vast scope of reference data assets and services. Our mission is to put our customers in a position to make the right decisions from accurate and reliable data. The size and scope of data management projects varies considerably but the common factor in all initiatives is that they are the key to unlocking operational efficiency and improving customer engagement
  • Lets run through the impact of bad data and the changing landscape.Recently we worked with research agency Loadhouse to find out how consumers feel abut sharing their information with organisations and their experiences of doing so.the key findings form this research were firstly that consumers are annoyed by inaccurate data and secondly with more channels to communicate with your customers keeping on top of their details can be a challenge. Lets explore this in more detail. We found that 47% of consumers are annoyed by inaccurate data and shockily nearly ¾ (73%) of people have received errors in communication from businesses in the last 12months - 11% because their email or phone number was incorrect. This is hardly supposing when we also find that on average UK adults have on average:Lived or worked at 8 addressesHave 2 mobiles phones and4 email addresses - which is also the preferred communication channelToday over 100 billion business emails are sent each day and email user numbers are expected to reach 4.9 billion by 2017*. Most people will have a work account, and many personal accounts – I know I myself have email accounts which I use to sign up or anything and others which I'm more reserved about giving out to reduce the amount of spam I have to clear each week*And how many of you have entered a incorrect email address as you were worried about getting spammed or spent ages trying to log into your account getting more and more frustrated that it wont recognise your userID only to realise you have the dot in the wrong place – I know I have, its just to easy to do and its exactly the kind of scernarios your customers face.Nearly 30% of business believe more than half of their email database is incorrect**. Just think of all the time, money and resource wasted on sending out mail shots for them to not even be received by your customer – not to mention the awkward conversations this could cause if a customer has not received an important announcement or update. So with so many potential addresses entering your system how can you make the most of the email addresses you collect from your customers?*The Radicati Group, April 2013 Report, www.radiacti.com** Research conducted by computing magazine to support Essential data Quality: achieving long term success webseminar
  • By using a tool like email validate you can prevent incorrect email addresses from entering your database in the first place and make sure your database stays accurate over time.By implementing this one simple check you will:Increase the overall reliability of you're email database reducing the time and resource and money wasted processing incorrect recordsUsing a reliable database you will be able to conduct more effective email communications, improving your relationship with your customers, protecting your brand and avoiding any unnecessary lost revenue from emails that were not received.Lets see how this tool works in practise….--------------------DEMO to cover key features (Simon to write)Please cover the levels of validate and how this can be used (any real world examples e.g a large retailer is using this to……… , a charity used this for………., we see more education customers using this for.…..)How this can be implemented (Real time / Bulk) and benefits of both
  • Thanks Alex.So some great results seen by digital box by validating the accuracy of their email database. So how do you go about improving the quality of your email database to achieve similar results? We’ve got 3 tops tips that will help you get there:Understand where you are now – Asses the current level of data quality within your email database. Measure your deliverability or bounceback rate. If you don’t use the data yourself speak to the people that do. Is the quality of the data impacting their ability to do their job or making their job harder. We often find that people implement work around that make their jobs 10x longer but get the job done rather than take hold of the issues. Understanding exactly where the issues lie and their impact will help you secure buy in for the investment to improve. A data quality healthcheck is another good way of measuring the quality of your database. You can find out more about this on our website.Explore how you get from A to B – Once you understand the currently the level of data quality within you email database start to explore and determine what's right course of action for your business needs. Do you want to cleanse the data ahead of a big email send or make sure any address that is captured is recorded correctly at point of entry. As you have learnt there are different options to suit different needs.Consider the other elements – Once you are happy with the quality of your email database – it shouldn’t stop there. its worth considering the other communication channels and the data that sits behind them. Its all about prioritisation. Understanding what data quality issues are impacting your business and how and prioritising them on this basis. If mobile numbers or addresses are important to you business there are solution that can make sure these are accurate too.
  • I think we have reached the end of our webinar today. Thank you for all your questions. For those that we haven't been able to answer we will shortly be sending round the slides which will contain all the answers to the questions we have received. We will also send you the full digital box case study for you to review at your leisure. We hope you found todays webinar useful. You will find details on screen to contact us if you require any more information.Thank you for listening.
