Thomas & King is America’s 8th largest restaurant franchise company. They own and operate 90 Applebee’s and 7 Johnny Carino's Italian Grill restaurants in Arizona, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The IT staff struggled to keep up with its tape backups. Responsible for protecting the company’s critical business information, backups were split into four primary backup jobs, including incremental backup jobs for its file server, business data, SQL database and a nightly full backup of its Exchange server.

  • Lessons Learned
    • SQL dumps to ExaGrid relieves infrastructure staff
    • Allows IT staff to work in areas of specialization
    • Database manager can restore SQL data if needed
    • Realized high efficiency in our SQL backups
    • 15 weeks now take up the space of 1 backup
    • Support is very strong – know most of the techs by name
    • Great for VMware backups
    • ExaGrid is very nimble organization – upgrade to architecture
    • Makes tape elimination a real possibility
    • Wide vendor partnerships make vendor changes easy
