Historical Newspapers’ Digitization Current state of digitization: • most of the historical newspapers have been digitized; • among them all Slovenian newspapers and journals important for history and culture; • all German language newspapers published on the Slovenian territory; • more than 600.000 objects.

Challenges • placement of newspapers in the context of a whole digital library; • articles vs. issues; • full text search through all text materials: – limitation of the large number of results, – filters, – provide to user the results of full text search as immediate answer; • inflected language; • old alphabets (Metelko alphabet, etc.).

  6. 6. Users don’t prefer only the articles without the content of a particular issue.
