  • 1. All About Thanksgiving Made by: Miss Norma Villanueva and ABC Teach. Adapted by Eugenia Araújo
  • 2. Thanksgiving is to say thank you for all the blessings received.
  • 3. In the USA Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth (4th) Thursday of November. In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second (2nd) Monday of October.
  • 4. This year Thanksgiving is on November 24th.
  • 5. Thanksgiving is a happy holiday.
  • 6. Families get together for Thanksgiving. They invite friends too.
  • 7. Americans like to eat dinner on Thanksgiving. Most people eat turkey. Another traditional dishes are: corn
  • 8. Sweet potatoes Cranberry sauce Traditional desserts are: Apple pie Pumpkin pie
  • 9. Name the pictures: Apple pie corn turkey
  • 10. Thanksgiving story and traditions
  • 11. In 1620 a group of people named the Pilgrims, moved to America
  • 12. They sailed on a boat called the Mayflower. There were 110 Pilgrims.
  • 13. The first winter was very hard. It was very cold and the Pilgrims had no food. Only 50 survived
  • 14. The next year, they met an Indian named Squanto. He spoke English and helped the Pilgrims to survive and to work the new soil, to grow corn and pumkins, to know animals as the turkey.
  • 15. The Pilgrims decided to celebrate the rich harvest and invited the Indians . The feast lasted 3 days.
  • 16. In 1863 Abraham Lincoln declared the 4 th Thursday of November as national festival for Thanksgiving
  • 17. Today on Thanksgiving day , American families come together to have a big feast. They eat turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, vegetables and… pumpkin cake.
