1. 1. EUTHANASIA By Esteban Beccaria
 2. 2. BEFORE WE START… (here i will say that i decided that there will not be any images during my presenstation due to their sensitive content…)
 3. 3. WHAT IS EUTHANASIA?
 4. 4. EUTHANASIA IT’S A GREEK WORD (GOOD DEATH) THAT REFERS TO THE PRACTICE OF INTENTIONALLY ENDING A LIFE IN ORDER TO RELIEVE PAIN AND SUFFERING
 5. 5. HOW MANY TYPES OF EUTHANASIA EXISTS?

Voluntary Euthanasia

Non Voluntary Euthanasia

Involuntary Euthanasia

 6. 6. VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA

Its also called PSA (Physician assisted Suicide)

It’s the practice of ending a life in painless manner due to the patient’s request to stop the treatment that he or she is receiving.

 7. 7. WHY CAN VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA TAKE PLACE?

Because no one can understand the pain and suffering that the person feels during the disease, even with pain relievers.

Another reason could be that the person cant afford all the costs of threatments and medication what it makes that the patient’s life quality becomes very suffering.

 8. 8. NON VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA

Non voluntary euthanasia takes place when the patients cant decide from themselves and the decision must be taken by someone else.

Some examples could be patients that are not mentally competent or comatose patients.

 9. 9. WHY CAN NON VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA TAKE PLACE?

The decision can be made based on what the incapacitated individual would have wanted, or it could be made on substituted judgment of what the decision maker would want were he or she in the incapacitated person's place, or finally, the decision could be made by the doctor by his own decision

 10. 10. INVOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA

The difference between non voluntary and involuntary euthanasia is that in non voluntary the decision must be taken by someone else than the patient and in involuntary euthanasia the patient is able to provide consent but they arent asked.

 11. 11. WHY CAN INVOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA TAKE PLACE?

It takes place in special circunstances like the one that we will see in this example situation:

“ A soldier has their stomach blown open by a shell burst. They are in great pain and screaming in agony. They beg the army doctor to save their life. The doctor knows that they will die in ten minutes whatever happens. As he has no painkilling drugs with him he decides to spare the soldier further pain and shoots them dead.”
