• Virtual Authenticity: Creating real relationships and result from afar.
• Virtual workers increased by 800% from 2000 - 2005.1 By 2011, 73% of the US workforce will be mobile workers.2 Over 2/3 of business professionals are engaging in virtual work.3Exponential growth – in technology, connectivityImpact – more people working more remotely connected to more people ? competition working more globally – less traditional hours feeling more overwhelmed1Gareiss, Robin (2005). Nemertes Research.2 Drake, Stephen et al. International Data Corporation. (2008)3 APA Survey (2004)
• Everything is happening online, from a distance Banking, dating, shopping, business. I sold my home in DC without meeting realtor or broker I planned wedding from Afghanistan… never met band, florist, cake maker….Do what you love, places you love.Being able to work with the best & brightest (attract them to you)Virtual Collaborations offer a wealth of benefits – if you know Who & how to hire people…. Even more so… how to be hired to do what you love.Exponential growth – in technology, connectivityImpact – more people working more remotely connected to more people ? competition working more globally – less traditional hours feeling more overwhelmed1Gareiss, Robin (2005). Nemertes Research.2 Drake, Stephen et al. International Data Corporation. (2008)3 APA Survey (2004)
• Connected to everything – connected to no one.Seeing everything ELSE that needs to happen – OVERLOOK our successesReputations – particularly bad ones stay with us.OverWhelm – Stress List of to dos, shoulds, etcDisEngagement stats –Getting Lost in the transition, in the fog. • We are a society, overwired…. too much information coming at us from too many directions, at all times of the day.In person  Over phone  Over InternetAs leaders & managers – need relationships to know and see this in our people.Technology is changing how we live. 67% check email on toilet 33% of Bostonians would forgo sex for a year rather than give up their cell phone. Particularly scary to me – as we just moved to Cambridge. Technology is changing how we communicate..71% feel overwhelmed by the number of messages they receive. 66% of people read email 7 days a week and expect to receive a response the same day.61% continue to check email while on vacation Technology is changing our health.56% have anxiety if they can't access email54% of workers are concerned about health problems caused by stress. We are connected to more information and more people, And yet, We are less connected than ever before. Not only are real relationships disappearing. We are losing the Ability to create genuine connections. Sorry – I am deeply passionate about this and have a Book – coming out early 2011 (wedding delay) please email me if you would like a synopsis.
• Come to work, settle in, plow forward without looking at where you are going…
• Pace picked upUnanticipated twists /turnsNew obstacles around every bendYou must know your outcome… and those you are collaborating with…. before you jump into the river. And YET – we are going so fast, so hard – relationships are falling by the wayside.
• Going so fast, so curious, - Business is a blur.Feel separated…. Focused on staying upright, staying alive.
• We will talk about what this means – in a 3.0 worldWhat you need to be assessing,
• GIVESLeverage: resources, advisors, etc

More distraciotns. Key 2 EQ – critical to staying targeted and focused on what matters mostKey 3 – is what drives trust…. You walk the talk, live the action..
