  2. 2. Induction Training<br />Content:by the end of this training you will be able to:<br /><ul><li> to access LIVEefc;
  3. 3. Upload files;</li></ul>- Create links to websites and email addresses.<br />- Learn to access the National Learning Network (NLN) database (resources developed nationally for education)<br />

Induction Training<br />There are 3 ways of accessing our Vitual Learning Environment (VLE) or Moodle:<br />From College : <br />- Sharepoint / EFC online (http://efc-online/default.aspx );<br /><ul><li>Shareefc / Staff pop up page (http://shareefc/ );</li></ul>From outside of college:<br /> - Web address: http://learn.efc.ac.uk/<br />

  10. 10. Induction Training<br />....it will look like this. The editing functions for things you've already added (I've ringed them) have appeared. They are:<br />Hide/Reveal<br />Edit <br />Drag to move up/down <br />Indent (Format) <br />Delete<br />

Induction Training<br />Add a resource...<br />Insert a label<br />Add a lightbox gallery<br />Compose a text page<br />Compose a web page<br />Display a directory<br />Add an IMS Content Package<br />Display a 3D molecule viewer<br />1<br />Clicking on "Link to a file or website" enables you to link to any webpage, or insert most kinds of file (videos up to 10Mb, word documents, scans, etc. <br />2<br />This is the window that opens... <br />Link to a file or web site<br />
  13. 13. Induction Training<br />Give the resource a name that is clear to the students<br />Always<br />drop down and choose <br />"new window",otherwise when the student closes the document, they close STC Live too.<br />1<br />2<br />
  14. 14. Induction Training<br />This done, you now have two options<br />You can either<br />Choose or upload a file…<br />OR<br />Create a link to a website<br />1<br />
  15. 15. Induction Training<br />For websites, delete “http://“<br />and cut and paste in the website's address(highlight, then Ctrl + C, then click here and Ctrl + V) <br />in the Location box.<br />1<br />
  16. 16. Induction Training<br />If you want to upload a file you<br />Click on<br />“Choose or upload a file…”<br />1<br />

Induction Training<br />1<br />5<br />4<br />Once uploaded, it will appear in your list.<br />You then click “Choose" to put the file into the LIVE efc page<br />Choose "browse" to find a filein your documents.<br />2<br />3<br />Once you have selected it, then "upload" it...<br />When you have clicked on "choose or upload a file", a window opens with all the files for that course. <br />Click on "upload a file" to add to the list... <br />
  18. 18. Induction Training<br />Don't forget: "New window". <br />This takes you back to the page where you gave the file a name for LIVEefc. Scroll down and choose “Save and return to course"<br />
  19. 19. Induction Training<br />The new resource file or webpage will be the last thing on the list for that unit, but you can reorder the resources using the <br />function<br />

Induction Training<br />a<br />b<br />This expands/ contracts <br />all the units so that they <br />are visible or alternatively, stacked (but it is not a change to the page, the same option is available to the students)<br />These icons hide either whole units' contents (a) or individual files/sites (b) within a unit<br />

  26. 26. Induction Training<br />...and you will see the list of resources available. Click "Preview" to see the resource.<br />
  27. 27. Induction Training<br />Click “Start” to view the lesson (make sure your PC has the volume up)<br />If you've seen enough and you want the lesson, click “Choose"<br />

Induction Training<br />Ask for your ILT Champion/eMentorto arrange to have your students e-enrolled on the LIVEefc course, and you are ready to start using the page for support material such as activities in lessons or for homework, for student socialisation, as a revision archive and more... <br />
