MARKET UPDATES & STOCK RECOMMENDATION
Shares on Bursa Malaysia gave up its earlier gains to close easier today, with losses seen in selected key
heavyweights and small capitalised stocks, dealers said.At close, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM
KLCI) was 0.03 of a point lower at 1,846.31 on selling pressure after opening 1.78 points lower at 1,844.56.The FBM
KLCI hovered between 1,842.35 and 1,854.21 throughout the day. Dealers said the market moved in line with
regional peers as Wall Street staged an overnight decline amid unrest in Hong Kong.
The ringgit closed flat against the US dollar today as it consolidated from the recent sell-off, said a dealer .At 5pm,
the ringgit was quoted at 3.2790/2820 against the greenback from 3.2790/2810 on Monday. A dealer said the local
currency edged up a bit in a choppy market condition, but the overall direction was still determined by the
greenback as it took a breather from the recent long rally. Meanwhile, the local unit was traded lower against other
major currencies, except for the euro.
The Goods and Services Tax is a strategy to support Malaysia's economy and strengthen its fiscal position by
reducing the nation's dependence on international funds, says International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister
Datuk Lee Chee Leong.He said the implementation of the GST, which replaces the existing sales tax and services tax,
would reduce the financial burden on companies.
Danajamin Nasional Bhd has partnered the Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF) to develop the local
capital market in guaranteeing bonds and sukuk programmes.Danajamin chief executive officer (CEO) Mohamed
Nazri Omar said the partnership, aimed at facilitating meaningful exchange of market intelligence and talent
development, would focus on capacity building and knowledge transfer.
Sumimoto Corp's local unit, Sumisho Ecommerce Malaysia Sdn Bhd, has invested RM15.6 million to set up Soukai .

The Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) traded lower today, influenced by the downtrend in other metal prices, a
dealer said.The KLTM closed US$350 weaker at US$20,400 a tonne and found no support either on the London
Metal Exchange where the tin price fell US$150 to US$20,400 a tonne."The fall on the KLTM was due to a technical
correction and the price was mainly supported by scattered buying from European buyers," the dealer said.
Malaysia’s ringgit completed its biggest monthly drop in more than two years as the greenback surged on signs the
Federal Reserve is moving closer to raising US interest rates. The ringgit fell 3.9 per cent to 3.2805 per dollar in
Kuala Lumpur, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. That was the steepest monthly decline since May 2012.
The currency, which was little changed today, is the worst performer in Southeast Asia this month after Indonesia’s
rupiah. The ringgit lost 2.1 per cent this quarter.
