  • I thought we would start off with some comics about TwitterThe last judgment.Someone asking above, “what have you done with your life” the man replying back “didn’t you read my tweets”?
  • Twitterer’s Favorite PetMan says, “having breakfast with coffee and eggs” the parriot repeating back, “RT @OliverGeek having breakfast with coffee and eggs”
  • The last comic is called, “The Genesis of a Tweet” A man is staring at the computer screen and is thinking to himself, “I haven’t Twittered since yesterday”. The next bubble thought is, “I will lose followers. I have to find something cool…” “Sitting at the computer, thinking about my next tweet.”
  • Twitter statics from AnsonAlex.com Twitter has over 100 million active users50% of active users sign in dailyThere a significantly more female users then maleNearly 250 million tweets are tweeted each day
  • Quote from “Wildly Profitable Marketing” By CS Wurzberger (my mom) & Pam Foster“…majority of users are between 26 and 44 years of age, 25% of members follow a brand, and those…67% will purchase from that brand”
  • Show of hands, Who has a Twitter account?
  • “Twitter is a real-time information network that connects you to the latest information about what you find interesting.”-TwitterOr think of Twitter as an active business mixer that you can jump in and out of any time…day or night
  • Hey,President of Deerfield Valley Sitters, LLC. I manage a team of sitters who watches parent’s kids, so parents can enjoy some personal timeMy passion is working as a social media consultant, a personal agent to small businesses for Facebook business pages and Twitter successI grew up in an entrepreneur family and started my first business at age six selling homemade waxed leaves to Vermont visitors during Fall
  • Welcome to TwitterThis is Twitter’s homepage
  • 3 reasons why you should tweet1. I’ve learned about must-read books, breaking news, and restaurants because the information is coming from real people who care enough to tweet about it.I find it authentic and informative.
  • 2. I probably invest about thirty minutes per day, although I’m guilty of doing scans throughout the day and retweeting information to my followers
  • 3. It’s a blast! Twitter is entertaining and engaging with people local and around the world. Twitter is like a room full of people sitting in a large circle. If you don’t have a twitter account, after class Gretchen has a handout that I created that will walk you through step-by-step how to sign up for Twitter
  • First step to signing up: What should your user name be?Try the name of your business, if you can’t get your whole business name like the problem I ran into with Deerfield Valley Sitters then
  • shorten the name: @DeerfieldValley (Deerfield Valley Sitters) or @VTsNEk (Northeast Kingdom)
  • If you already have a user name, reflect if your Twitter name brands with your business name Your personal name if you represent your business. Try to keep everything co-brandedTry not to use the _ underscore (it’s hard for your prospects to remember where the _ underscores goes use numbers instead
  • To “tweet” is the process of writing an entertaining post on your wall stream. Every time you decided to post a message into the stream you are “tweeting”.
  • Here is my homepage; here is how many tweets I have tweeted, how many I’m following, how many is following me.Twitter suggests who to follow. Tweets that people have tweeted that I’m following. Treads #hashtags (We’ll talk about #hashtags in a moment)
  • The reason why the blue button says “Following” is because I am following him, but if I wasn’t then the button would say “Follow” and when you click on it, their tweets will automatically be shown in your newsfeed. No one has to confirm anything, anyone can follow your tweets you can’t stop anyone useless you block the person. Other then that it’s an open playing field. When you follow someone you are agreeing to see what tweets they compose and will see their tweets on your twitter stream.
  • @ [Sign] is at the beginning of every name and it’s how to interact with fellow twitter’ers
  • A direct message or known as DM is similar to email. A DM is when you send a specific user a private message that nobody can see except the receiver. This acts as a private messaging tool built in directly to the Twitter platform. When you send a DM that user will be notified they have received a message.
  • Hashtags are for keywords
  • One of the goals of Twitter is to have people to Retweet (RT) That’s why it’s best to be aware of how many letters you use in your TweetsHere’s the formula but don’t worry about it because I'm going to show you a software that will do it for you and will tell you when you have gone over 140 letters
  • I had a funny convocation with my Oma (Grandma) the owner of Norton House a fabric shop in downtown Wilmington about Twitter last year. She read in a retail trade magazine about Twitter and was convinced she needed to be tweeting. Naturally I got excited about the idea of helping her and she asked what she would be tweeting about and I replied, ‘what you had for lunch’. She looked at me stunned and asked why anyone would care what she had for lunch.
  • Are you using Google alerts? You can use your keywords or your company or personal name to see who is talking about you on the internet
  • You’ve learned how to compose a tweet, RT, use hashtags and now how to add your thoughts to tweets
  • Search in Twitters search box and browsing interests with keywords, real names, or by usernames.
  • When I talked about Google Alerts, you can also add your personal name and business name to keep track of who is saying what about your name or business. It acts like a spy in the internet world
  • Anyone who has a Twitter account have you Tweeted that you are here and when you, be sure to add #NWN because that hashtag will act as an on-going conversation about NetWork Now. Be a part of the conversation with BizPer hashtags
  • Yiippee to saving Save your time and sanity.
  • To sum up what Hootsuite can do, it can do everything you need to do on Twitter, add your Facebook and Facebook Business page, LinkedIn account and other social media sites that you may be on
  • If you want to learn Hootsuite send me an email and Ill run a small group coaching session with you
