  • 1. Get those cold contacts warm again
  • 2. Pizza. Spaghetti. Stew. Cassarole. Sitting in the refrigerator, they may not seem too appealing. But give one a few minutes in the microwave; mix several together in a new concoction; or use another as a starter ingredient for something grander and you end up with a meal that’s tres magnifique! The same can be said with those contacts in deepfreeze in your database. You know who they are: those contacts that are unknowns and untouched for days, weeks, months. Don’t throw them out just yet. Who knows what savory leads are waiting for a quick zap, slow warm-up, or ready to be folded into some other bigger dish. Following are some sure-fire ways to dial up the temperature of even your coldest contacts.
  • 3. Quick Zap Method 1 Send a “Thinking ofyou” email. Gently ask if they’d like to reconnect, and be sure to offer a juicy piece of content as an example of what they can expect from you.
  • 4. Quick Zap Method 2 Say “hey”to ex-customers. Provide a tidbit of new industry information. Who knows, they may be at the end of their ropes with the “other guy’s” product.
  • 5. The Slow Cook Technique 1 Be neighborly. Offer clearly-marked, helpful information for every stage of the buyer’s journey. Label content with classifications such as: “Just Looking?” “Narrowing Down your Choices?” “Justifying Your Decision?”
  • 6. The Slow Cook Technique 2 Retarget display ads on your website to keep CTAs front and center no matter where your viewer is in the funnel.
  • 7. The Starter Mix Method 1 Let them inspire a better dish. Ask your cold lead if there is a warmer body with whom you can interact.
  • 8. The Starter Mix Method 2 Tap a third party vendor that specializes in database appending. That cold lead could guide you to other hot prospects within their company.
  • 9. And finally…know when to throw something out! Clean out your database regularly for junk contacts and invalid email addresses. And always offer (and respect) any opt-out.
