Magazine publishers

  1. 1. Magazine publishers
  2. 2. Bauer Bauer Media is a division of the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing Group. The Group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations. Bauer Media is a multi-platform UK-based media Group consisting of many companies collected around two main divisions – Magazines and Radio - widely recognised and rewarded as being industry innovators. In 1994, the company bought a small magazine called For Him Magazine which is now the core of the best-selling international multi-platform brand FHM. Bauer Media is a sister company of H Bauer Publishing, publisher of the UK's biggest TV listings, Take a Break and Bella. Bauer has a wide range of magazines that all vary on topic and target audience making them appeal to a wide range of consumers therefore advertising their other magazines to a wide range of people.
  3. 3. Why choose Bauer? Bauer is the largest privately owned publishing group. This would benefit my magazine as it would be published by a world wide media organisation meaning the advertisement possibilities would be prosperous. Bauer have had experience of taking a small magazine and making it successful as they did it when the company bought a small magazine called For Him Magazine which is now the core of the best-selling international multi-platform brand FHM.
  4. 4. IPC MEDIA IPC Media is a Time Warner Company. Time warner is a global media group meaning advertisement would be vast, also the money from time warner would give your magazine a great financial backing. With more than 60 iconic media brands, IPC creates content for multiple platforms, across print, online, mobile, tablets and events. We engage with 26 million UK adults - almost two thirds of UK women and over 40% of UK men. Our award winning portfolio of websites reaches over 25 million global users every month. TIME WARNER: Time Warner Inc., a global leader in media and entertainment with businesses in television networks, film and TV entertainment and publishing, uses its industryleading operating scale and brands to create, package and deliver high-quality content worldwide through multiple distribution outlets.
  5. 5. Why choose IPC? Because IPC Media is a Time Warner Company Time warner is a global media group meaning advertisement would be vast, also the money from time warner would give your magazine a great financial backing. They have more than 60 magazines meaning your magazine could be published in various magazines that appeal to a varied target audience. Time warner could advertise my magazine in a cinema, and have access to wide media platforms
  6. 6. FUTURE PLC Future is an award-winning international media group and leading digital business. We reach more than 58 million international consumers a month and create world-class content and advertising solutions for passionate consumers online, on mobile and in print. We hold leading positions in Technology, Photography, Creative & Design, Games, Film, Music, Women’s Creative, Sport and Auto.. In the last twelve months our video content had over 132 million views, while Future has over 6.5 million followers across all main social media networks. Last year we sold more than 19 million magazines, that’s 37 magazines every minute. Our most well-known brands include T3, Total Film, Cycling Plus, Mollie Makes and Xbox: The Official Magazine. Future also exports or syndicates over 218 publications to 82 countries, making us the UK’s number one exporter and licensor of magazine content.
  7. 7. Why choose FUTURE PLC ? Future PLC is a multi national media platform they reach figures of 37 magazines a minute, meaning my magazine would be part an award winning successful company They also have a digital video based side to the company which would mean my magazine could be published on more than one media platform
  8. 8. Total readers! NME (IPC MEDIA) The blue line represents the amount of magazines in circulation. The red line represents the amount of people that read the circulated magazines. The red line is higher than the blue line because in a house hold more than one person may read the magazine purchased. There is a strong negative coloration of print based media declining through the years. This caused the amount of magazines in circulation to decline. This could be due to the uprising of technology and digital media making magazines being accessible on phones or computers making the print based magazine’s sales deplete.
  9. 9. Total Readers! Q (Bauer MEDIA) The red line represents the amount of people that read the circulated magazines. The blue line represents the amount of magazines in circulation. The red and blue line are crossing as in some months there were more magazines in circulation than there were sold. There is an overall negative correlation as the rise of technology is effecting the media driving less people to buy print based products.
  10. 10. Total Readers SPIN (SPINMEDIA) This table shows how many visitors the publishers website has got in the us alone. The official media website 30,000,00 spending collectively over 287,000,000 minutes spent on the website. This shows that people are using digital media in vast amounts, thus causing a decline in the sales of print based media Spin magazine is now published as a webzine, I have included this to show the uprising of digital media and the decline of print based media as technology advances
  11. 11. NME (IPC MEDIA) These statistics suggest that he readers of NME are mostly young males that are in full time work. This is the target audience I am looking to appeal to with my magazine.
  12. 12. Q (BAUER MEDIA) These statistics show that the readers of Q magazine are predominantly males with an average age of 29 this is a target audience I would like to reach with my magazine, this makes BAUER MEDIA a good candidate for the publisher of my magazine
  13. 13. Bauer Media • The publisher I have decided to choose to publish my magazine is Bauer media as their vast range of magazines would get my magazine advertised to a wide range of people. • Also Bauer Media have a history of taking small magazines and making them a national success e.g. FHM
