The crust, mantle & core.1.1.The lithosphere:The lithosphere is a outermost shell of a rocky planet , tehe Earth
  • 2.Tectonic plates:2.1.What´s a tectonic plate?Plate tectonics describes the large scale motions of Earths lithosphere. They are pieces of theEarths crust and uppermost mantle, together referred to as the lithosphere. Tectonic plates area massive, irregularly shaped slab of solid rock, generally composed of both continental andoceanic lithosphere.
  • 2.2. Major tectonic plates of the world:The major tectonic plates are between the oceanic Nazca Plate and the continental SouthAmerican Plate more or less and they move around the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.Where platesdiverge, hot, molten rock rises and cools adding new material to the edges of the oceanicplates.3.Continets:3.1 Continental drift:Continental drift is the movement of the Earths continents relative to each other. The firstcontineltal drift was in 1596 by Abraham Orteliu.Today the scientist whith satellites andlassers can show how much continents are still drifting this year. For example that Africa andSouth America are drifting apart at the rate at 3.5 centimeters at the year.4.Plate movement:4.1.Earthquake:An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earths crust that createsseismic waves.
  • The earthquakes can cause big disasters!4.2.Volcanoes:A volcano is an opening, or rupture, in a planets surface or crust, which allows hot, moltenrock, ash, and gases to escape from below the surface.
