Press Release: Illegal Fundraising For Olayinka's Burial

PRESS RELEASEThe attention of Ekiti State Government has been drawn to the activities of some individuals who aregoing about raising funds for the purported burial of the late Deputy Governor of the state, MrsFunmilayo Adunni Olayinka.We wish to dissociate ourselves from the activities of these individuals and groups and state asfollows: • That the late Mrs Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka died in office as the Deputy Governor of the state on April 6th, 2013 with full benefits of the office. • That the State Government has put in place plans to give the late Deputy Governor a full state burial. • That the Ekiti State Government will bear all expenses of the state burial. • That the state government frowns at and does not encourage attempt by any group or individuals to raise funds for the state burial under any guise whatsoever. • That members of the public are advised to discountenance (and report to appropriate security agencies) attempts by any individual to obtain money or other items from them for the purpose of the burial. • We also advise individuals within and outside the state who are involved in this illegal and unauthorised solicitation to desist from it. • The full time table for the state burial would be made public soon.
