  2. 2. What do we do? Econcult is the Cultural Economics Research Unit from the University of Valencia . The unit was created in 1995 and is directed by professor Pau Rausell Köster. In 2006, Econcult became part of the Interuniversity Institute for Local Development (IIDL). Our research priorities include the analysis of the relationships between individuals and the cultural fact, trying to understand why we decide to read, buy a movie ticket, produce a theatre play or learn to play the guitar. We are also interested in the relationships between the cultural and creative activities and the social, economic and political dynamics of communities and territories. Our research topics are Culture Economics, Cultural Policies, the relationship between culture and development, creative territories, music, the publishing sector, theatre, heritage, museums, language economics and cultural tourism

  8. 8. Conferences On 19-20 January 2012, we organized the Sostenuto Final Conference, held in Valencia under the title“Culture on the frontlines: unveiling the keys to social and economic innovation in the Med space”

European projects The Sostenuto project has been carried out in the framework of the European Union’s Med Programme (INTERREG IV B) with the aim of reinforcing the competitiveness and the innovation capacity of the cultural sector in the Med space This three-year initiative has been implemented with support from the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) and the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) Sostenuto is based on the collaboration between seven patners of very different nature operating in France, Italy, Slovenia and Montenegro

The project fostered the implementation of a European projects innovative practices through four cultural laboratories: Creative Non-monetaryBusiness Incubator Exchange System(Marseille, France) (Ljubljana, Slovenia) Territorial governance Arts & Crafts (Liguria, Italia & Kotor, Montenegro) Cluster (Chiusi,Italy)

European projects Relais Culture Europe, headquartered in Paris, has been in charge of disseminating and valorizing the activities carried out by the labsEconcult, as the project’s academic partner, hasfocused on the elaboration of a theoretical modelof the way cultural organizations generate,incorporate and disseminate innovation towardsother social and economic spaces in the Medarea

Impactrimonio We’re also collaborating with Key Productivity Konsulting (K|P|K) in the IMPACTRIMONIO projectThis project, funded by the Ministry of Culture, consists of developing a web platform in which public and private cultural managers will be able to evaluate the socio-economic impact of the different kinds of heritage: museums, archeological sites, monuments, festivals, traditional festivities, cultural programmes… More information: Website Blog Facebook Twitter
