    • Bratislava- the capital cityof Slovakia
    • The Slovak Republic (short form: Slovakiaor Slovensko)is in Central Europe.It has apopulation of over five million and an area of about 49,000 squarekilometres . Slovakia is bordered by the CzechRepublic and Austria to the west, Poland THE FLAG OF SLOVAKIAto the north, Ukraine to the east andHungary to the south. The largest city is the capital, Bratislava,and the second largest is Košice. Slovakia is a member state of theEuropean Union, NATO, United Nations, COAT OF ARMSOECD and WTO among others. The officiallanguage is Slovak.
    • The Slovak landscape is noted primarily for itsmountainous nature,with the Carpathian Mountains extending Gerlachovský štítacross most of the northern half of thecountry.Amongst these mountain ranges are the highpeaks of the Tatra mountains.To the north,close to the Polish border, are the High Tatraswhich are a popular skiing destinationand home to many scenic lakes and valleys aswell as the highest point in Slovakia, the Gerlachovský štít at 2,655 metres , and Greater Fatrathe countrys highly symbolic mountainKriváň.
