WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE IPHONE
6S?
SMART TECH
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
To give Apple fans a somewhat clearer idea of what the iPhone 6S has to offer,
here’s a list of features based on news reports and other sources:
With the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus making their grand entrance to the
smartphone scene only last September, Apple fans around the world are now
waiting with bated breath for a new arrival - the iPhone 6S.
If Apple’s track record of product launches are anything to go by, the iPhone 6S –
alongside the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone 6C, or the ‘iPhone Mini’ - is expected
to make its debut in September 2015.
DESIGN
After the allure generated through by the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus’ large
display screens, Apple will most likely stick with the 4.7-inch display for the
upcoming iPhone 6S.
It will predictably also have the signature slim, sleek and rounded design many
have come to associate with the immensely popular brand.
One difference is the range of colours on offer; as well as Apple’s usual colours
of Silver, Gold and Space Grey, customers will now be able to buy the phone in
Pink/Rose Gold colour.
INTERNAL CAPACITIES
Other changes made by Apple include a new processor, the latest iOS and a
much bigger RAM. The iPhone 6S will have an A9 processor joined with the M9
co-processor, developed by Samsung, for better efficiency.
Apple’s upcoming operating system, labelled the iOS 9, will be included in the
new phone and will focus on delivering a stable and efficient performance. The
smartphone will have a 2GB RAM that will enable iOS 9 to perform smoothly.
CAMERA
The rumour mill suggests that for the iPhone 6S it may very well be the biggest
camera jump made yet by the company.
Chinese website United Daily News reports that the phone will have a dual-lens
camera that will help capture DSLR-quality imagery.
Other reports suggest the emergence of a new Apple patent which will use a
light-splitting, three-sensor camera system that will result in high quality photos
and videos.
OTHER FEATURES
What is an Apple product without its usual repertoire of unique tools? True to its
nature, Apple promises to offer exciting new additions to the iPhone 6S. These
include:
• Force Touch display - a technology borrowed from the Apple Watch that allows the smartphone to
differentiate between taps and presses, and present a whole new level of interactions.
•Improvements to Touch ID - contrary to the existing Fingerprint Sensor, which is located right below the
Home button, the phone will be able to detect the user’s hand or fingerprint anywhere on the screen.
•Gorilla Glass, Sapphire Glass and Liquid Metal - a new scratch and shatter-resistance screen, also known
as Project Phire, for maximum protection.
