Sample Planning Module (SPM) Data Sheet

  1. 1. Sample Planning Module (SPM) The EQuIS 5 Professional Sample Planning Module (SPM) provides an automated planning tool for sampling events. SPM eliminates repetitive, manual, error-prone data collection. Now you can: Plan future sampling events. Prepare and distribute electronic pre-populated Chain of Custodies. Generate several Completeness Reports with lists of planned but uncompleted samples. Pre-populate EQuIS Intelligent Data Entry Forms (IDEFs) to virtually eliminate manual data errors. Integrate SPM as a part of the EQuIS workflow. Completeness Checker: Incomplete Samples Report The Incomplete Samples Report generates a list of all planned samples that were not completed within any selected SPM sampling event. You can generate the Incomplete Samples by lab or by location. Electronic Pre-Printed Chain of Custody (CoC) Pre- EarthSoft has worked with several leading labs to electronically generate their specific CoCs. You can pre-populate the CoCs with facility, lab, billing, and reporting information, along with all of the planned samples for any sampling event. You can also customize the COC without any updates or changes to SPM core programming. For more information, write to info@earthsoft.com, visit www.earthsoft.com, or call 978-369-2201. 2. 2. Planning Future Sampling Events SPM gives you the flexibility to easily plan future sampling events. You can schedule unique or repetitive events: • Daily, bi-weekly, weekly … • Monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, yearly… EQuIS Intelligent Data Entry Forms (IDEF ) The IDEFs works in tandem with SPM ensuring that planned sampling data from the field or the lab are gathered accurately and in a timely manner. IDEFs minimize keystrokes and errors. Workflow Cycle The EQuIS workflow is closed loop, extending from SPM to an IDEF, to EDP, and back to SPM. This eliminates many human errors since all sample, location, and facility information are exported from SPM via an EDD with a predefined format, based on any single sampling event. Then you can import that EDD into an IDEF, where staff have to worry about fewer inputs. Once you collect the data, you can generate a new EDD from the IDEF. Finally, you open the EDD in EDP, review and “fix” the EDD and load it into EQuIS. SPM provides reports documenting the complete cycle. Other Completeness Checker Reports SPM’s growing list of other reports includes Task Preview and Cost Summary, organizing sampling event samples by location, and lists cost per sample based on the contract method. Other SPM reports include Bottle Requests, Bottle Labels (with bar codes), and a Lab EDD report. Similar to the Incomplete Samples report, the Unplanned Samples Report generates a table of samples that were taken but that were not part of the original sample plan. You can also generate a Frequency Report that uses a calendar style view of the frequency of different analyte groups as applied to location groups. The calendar displays each month for the current year, and under each month, a list of the planned analyte groups. At a glance, managers can use a frequency report to see what is being sampled and where over an entire year.
