Building a Service-Oriented Polar CI Portal to Support Sustained Polar Sciences • Funded by National Science Foundation (NSF) • Objectives: – Objective 1: Establish a large-scale web crawler to improve the accessibility of Big Polar Data – Objective 2: Monitoring Data and Service Quality to Improve Portal Usability 2
    3. 3. PolarHub Features • Dig into the deep Web to extract data of interest; • Multi-task, multi-user, multi-thread support to the crawling tasks; • A pattern-matching based crawling algorithm; • A portable client-server communication mechanism for enhanced asynchronous processing
    4. 4. PolarHub • Target: – Identify 40k OGC web services; – Extend to support discovery of other type of earth science data; – Bridge with other existing crawling/CI portal systems
