Hatton park pitch

 1. 1. Hatton Park The Pitch
 2. 2. Target audience

My target audience for the soap is that of teenagers 13-20, being that there is not a soap aimed at this audience.

From my research into my audience I found that this target audience were looking for a soap that put over the issues they faced in everyday life and will be able to relate to.

This means that the soap I create will have elements that appeal to them, by having characters around the same age, having it set in a school and plot lines that the audience can relate to.

The poster will be aimed at the same target audience by clearly putting over the soaps themes and characters.

The magazine will however be aimed at a wider audience because the audience the soap magazine have now is older and the magazine still needs to appeal to them as well as the younger audience.

 3. 3. Conventions

For a Soap:

The characters, in most soaps the characters are shown in a stereotypical conventional way. However the characters in this soap will along as having elements of conventional characters there will believable and allow the audience to relate and understand them.

Along with this most soaps have conventional story lines (death/murder, wedding, cheating) but in ‘Hatton Park’ the plot lines will be original and have the issues that the target audience face.

For a Magazine:

Having a conventional layout to the main image of ‘Hatton Park’, I plan on showing either all the characters or two main one in a way that puts over the soaps theme and the characters.

Along with this the text that I will follow conventions, as by using big, bold front will make the magazine stand out and get the audience attention.

For a Poster:

The image used of the poster needs to fit in with the conventions as it need to put over the soap clearly to the audience but along with this it will need to break convention so that it can get the audience attention and make them interested about the soap.

From looking at soap poster I found that they have little text, which meant that they was not the information that the audience need to know when the soap was on the channel and with this I plan on making sure that my Poster clearly gives the audience all the information

 4. 4. Ideas for product - Trailer

For our trailer we want to get the audience attention and clearly put over the soap, we chose to have the trailer show the six main characters and highlight the fact that it is set in a school.

We need the trailer to get the audience interested in the soap and we decide to put over lots of different plot lines:

The relationship with Jessie and Zac, what’s wrong?

Could the teacher be Sarah’s Mum?

What does Elizabeth want with Zac?

Whose Jessie texting and what’s their relationship?

We made our own scripts, storyboards and shortlist. From this we put all our ideas together to make the strongest audiovisual product possible.

Along with this want to make sure that from our trailer our audience know what the soap was about and they were able to relate to the characters.

 5. 5. Successful - Trailer

The trailer will be successful in:

The trailer will clearly put over potential storylines that will be explored, doing this will allow the different audience members to identify with at least one of the plotlines.

The trailer will put over that it is a soap aimed a teenagers and because of the gap in the market it will allow us to gain a wide audience.

The trailer will put over the characters clearly and allow the audience to relate to them, which should lead to them wanting to watch ‘Hatton Park’. Along with the location will be clearly shown, doing this will allow the audience to relate to what is happening and see that the soap is aimed at them.

The trailer will get the audience attention through the use of the camerawork and editing, creating a fast pace trailer will put over the theme of the soap and get the audience interested in ‘Hatton Park’.

 6. 6. Material - Trailer

After we had each create our own script, storyboard and shortlist we brought them together and create a final one of each. Doing this meant that we will be able to create a trailer that includes all of our ideas and will appeal to the audience.

 7. 7. Ideas for product - Poster

The image I plan on using for the poster will put over the theme of the soap through the use of the mise-en-scene, which will allow the audience to have a clearly understanding of what the poster is showing.

The poster will also put over the characters, having them in costume, allowing them to identify each character. The compression of the poster will clearly show the characters and the different relationships

The poster will attracted the target audience by using bright colours that will stand out and also break the convention, being that it will then attract a younger audience.

 8. 8. Successful – Poster

Adverting the ‘Hatton Park’ through posters will be successful being that it means they will be able to reach a wide audience and allow the audience to gain an understanding of what the soap will be about.

The poster will be able to clearly put over the theme and storyline that will be coming up in the soap and allow the audience the gain an understanding of the characters and their relationship.

Having the poster will allow us to adverts the soap in place that the target audience are likely to be such as having them placed in shopping centres that will allow the audience to see the posters and become interested in the soap.

 9. 9. Material – Poster

For the drafts, I looked at other posters for soaps and found out my target audience views on these. This allowed me to create draft that will appeal to the audience an put over the soap.

 10. 10. Ideas for product – Magazine

For the magazine cover I plan on using a image like that on the poster, so to link the two averments together. Using ‘Hatton Park’ as the main image and having an article. Doing this will put over the soap to the audience and being the main image it will put over the characters and get the audience attention.

For the Magazine cove I will use the conventions being that this will appeal to my audience, by using bright colours and shot snappy text that will make the magazine stand out and get the audience attention.

Being that soap magazines are brought by an older audience means the layout of the cover will be aimed at a wider audience along with still appeal to the teenage target audience.

 11. 11. Successful - Magazine

The magazine will be successful being that it will appeal to a wider audience, doing this is make the soap get more advertisement and the cover will appeal to the target audience.

The magazine will create more excitement towards the soap being that it will be placed in different placed than the poster and see by people that might not have seen the trailer.

The magazine will also give more information about the soap, the characters as well as the actor. Doing this will make more people interested about the soap

 12. 12. Material - Magazine

For the magazine I looked a different magazine to see what worked well and from this I create my drafts to make sure that they appeal to my audience, as well as putting over the soap.
