Goal of the Application A Computer System has been developedfor the on-line capture, visualization,transmission and storage of data measured bythe Mobile Unit sensors, with a robustexceptions control which let us know thecause of whatever misfunction that couldhappen during a session. EquipmentThe Mobile Unit UMA (Unidad Móvil Ambiental) is an off-roadvehicle, with all the instruments needed to make radiationmeasurements “in-continuo” such us environmental equivalentdose rate and environmental pollution caused by beta/gammaemissions. Instrumentation: Ionization chamber and Geiger-Müller detector.USB-connected to the Portable PC.• 3 sodium iodure INa(TI) sensors:Connected to a Netbook wich is Ethernet connected to the Portable PC.• GPS:USB-connected to the Portable PC.• Portable PC:It’s the core where all the instruments are connected. It controls the sampling parameters, theco-ordination with the GPS. And it controls too, the beginning and end of a session.The software which controls all the processes is installed here.The georeferenced visualization of the measurements on a map takes place on it. The GIS Viewer - Functionality The GIS Viewer extracts the (x,y) position from GPS.• Compare the position with the cartography areas anddecides which must be loaded.• Then, the raster cartography from IGN must be projected forfitting with the GPS projection.• Measures from the sensors and GPS are passed to the viewerfrom the control system and the geographic viewer creates afile, then a (x,y) event theme and, eventually, an entry in theTOC, with a different colour code for each sensor, and adifferent color when the sensor threshold is overcome. The GIS Viewer - Functionality • A bubble control has been created for accessing the points shapefile information: variable value, sensor type, value of the projected coordinates ... • As the mobile unit goes on, the position is centered in the GIS viewer, on the raster map, and the (x,y) files are re- written and the event themes re-painted.   13. 13. System Capabilities Customizing the measurements campaign:Deciding which sensor will be considered, the calibration files and the alert andalarm values. Testing the correct operation of both sensors andcommunications. Monitoring graphically the measurement process in real time:Using the GIS module which shows the georeferenced measures on a map. Checking the overcoming of threshold values and alerting aboutit both at the GIS and the alphanumerical viewer. Storing all the measures and the route of a campaign into a file. Sending the alphanumerical data vía GPRS o vía satellite to acentralized data warehouse. Providing to CSN the access to the data warehouse.
