Corps Day 2012 Activity Details5K TRAIL RUNMichael Gaul will lead a 5k trail run with confidence stations along the waydesigned to test your Corps (Core). The event, new to Corps Day, is for competitivefun and will feature body weight exercises and hilly uneven terrain. Since it is not arace, the objective is to complete the run and encourage your comrades that areparticipating with you. There will not be an overall winner or an official clock, butrunners can feel free to time themselves. The group will meet at the WES FitnessCenter at 9 a.m. and the route will cover ERDCs scenic perimeter trails. ContactMichael no later the COB 5 Oct. to sign up. SOCCER New for Corps Day 2012 - soccer! The initial plan is to organize a 3v3 tournament, but there is also potential for pick-up games. Other than your personal dress, equipment will be provided. Please respond no later than COB 5 Oct.GOLFThe ERDC Corps Day Golf Tournament will be held at the Black Bear GolfCourse in Delhi, LA. The cost is $55, which includes a round of golf andlunch. The planned tee time is 1:00 p.m. with lunch starting at 11:30a.m. Mulligans can be purchased when you register for $5 each with alimit of 3 per person and prizes will be given for 1st and 2nd place forthree flights, along with longest drive and closest to the pin. Please remember that the dress for the golf course is collaredshirts and no blue jeans or blue jean shorts. Also, no personal coolers are allowed. You can geta cooler and drinks from the restaurant. BID WHIST The First Annual ERDC Corps Day Bid Whist Tournament will make its debut on Oct. 11! The event is open to all card players, and we’d love for you to help make this an ERDC tradition. SPORTING CLAY SHOOTThe Sporting Clay Shoot will be held at the Kearny ParkShooting Facility near Flora, MS. Each shooter will beresponsible for providing his/her gun, ammo, safetyglasses, ear protection, and food/drinks during the event.Shooting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and each participant will shoot 100 birds. The cost of theevent will be $37.50 per shooter. A safety briefing will be held prior to the shoot. The Texas Holdem Poker Tournament is open to all players and all those who think they are players. No experience is necessary. Normal Texas Holdem rules apply.FISHINGThe ERDC-Vicksburg Corps Day fishing tournament will beheld at the Chotard-Albemarle oxbow lake complex if Miss.River water levels are conducive to fishing (not rising) -backup would be Eagle Lake, but suggestions are welcome.Participants will leave ERDC at 11 a.m. and fishing willofficially begin at noon. You can launch from either Laney’sor Chotard Landing and it is up to you to pay launch fee. Theres no limit on number offisherpersons per boat (1 to 100 depending on safe capacity of your boat!). The tournament willofficially end at boat ramp at Laney’s at 4:30 p.m., where well gather for photos. You may fishfor whatever species you wish. Some have mentioned a "fruit jar" type competition for lunkerbass - $10 each for any that are interested - if not, just fish and have fun. It is the responsibilityof ALL participants to follow federal and state fishing and boating laws. This is a fun tournamentso come on out and have a good time! Six teams will participate in this year’s tournament: ITL, CHL, GSL, EL, the Contracting Office and CSD. Children’s Activities DetailsHORSE RIDESWilson Meadows’ horse will be making a special visit to ERDC forCorps Day 2012. Wilson will facilitate rides for all children who areinterested. INFLATABLE SLIDE AND OBSTACLE COURSE The USO is sponsoring an inflatable slide/jumper combination and an inflatable obstacle course for the day. All children are welcome to play from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.!
