  • 2. Emami settles dispute over Zandu Balm song; to use for ads
    • Emami Ltd, the owner of Zandu Balm, said its copryright infringement dispute with the production company of Salman Khan starer 'Dabangg' has been amicably settled between the two parties. (As per Emami, Director Mohan Goenka)
    • Subsequently, the company will be using the chartbuster 'Munni Badnaam' for its promotional campaigns, while it is still in talks over using Malaika Arora Khan, who did the item number in the film, as the brand ambassador for Zandu Balm.
  • 3. ING Life launches unique child product
    • ING Life India launched a new child insurance product "ING Aashirwad" that helps parents plan for their child's future goal and thereafter protect its life without any additional cost.
    • ING Ashirwad is a non-linked and non-participative child plan. In case of any eventuality to the parent, plan will offer an additional equal to 50 per cent of the guaranteed maturity as death benefit and the policy will continue. Future premiums being waived off. On maturity the child will get the full maturity value of the policy.
  • 4. TCS’ UK executive Woodford to join Cable & Wireless
    • Brian Woodford, who helped Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) build nearly $1 billion government business in the UK with contracts from Personal Accounts Delivery Authority (PADA) has quit to join Cable & Wireless.
    • His exit also comes at a time when a new government has taken over in UK. The coalition government headed by David Cameron has said it will review all large government projects that were awarded to vendors before the elections.

    • TCS’ PADA project has already run into controversy and there is still no clarity on its future and if TCS, which has already made some upfront investments, will be awarded the second phase of the contract.
  • 6. Tata Motors to launch Aria within a month, may price it Rs 10 lakh
    • Tata Motors will launch Aria a cross-over between a multi-utility and sports utility vehicle within a month.
    • Unveiled at the Auto Expo and billed as a four-wheeler built for Indians by Indian engineers, Aria will compete with Toyota Innova and M&M's Xylo
    • Key factor to watch out for is whether Tata Motors will price Aria above its competitors like Xylo or Innova as the competition is going to be very fierce. Tata Motors says that they will declare the price on the date of the launch.
  • 7. Nano to be 2nd best selling car in India by FY 11
    • Nano, the small car from the Tatas, is projected to become India's second best selling car next year, according to market research firm JD Power.
    • According to a report by JD Power, Nano will replace Hyundai's i10, which is slated to take the second position in 2010 after Maruti Suzuki's Alto. Tata Motor's Indica will be the third best seller this year.
  • 8. Reliance Infra seen in talks for Rs 7K crore rail project loan
    • Reliance Infrastructure, controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani, approached banks for a Rs 7,000-crore loan to fund a new rail project in Mumbai.
    • A Reliance Infrastructure-led group in January won the contract to build the second stage of a Rs 11,000 crore rail project in the nation’s biggest commercial centre.
