    Notes on slide 1

There’s lots of it, it’s most unstructured and unmanaged. The amount of digital information created in 2008 grew 3% faster, or 16 million gigabytes more, compared with prior projection. Looking forward, the Digital Universe is expected to double in size every 18 months. In 2012, five times as much digital information will be created versus 2008. More than 30% of information created today is “security-intensive,” requiring high standards of protection30% number will grow to roughly 45% by the end of 2012.

CMA is all about wrapping policy around your information to maximize your leverage

STORY:One of our financial services customers is creating policies around its top 50 applications across 60 countries

Difference between highest and lower storage is a factor of 10 – an incredible savings

The team built a fantastic ROI calculator Visit the booth for a demo Enter in the number of users and few other data points, and you’re able to quickly see the projected cost savings Some recent analyst projections show customers who implement an email management solution can reduce storage costs between 20-30%, improve time to complete backups by greater than 50%, and get an average payback in 2-3 years All good stuff, but we see SourceOne beating those estimates.

With EMC SourceOne, reduce e-discovery/disclosure time and costs by up to 50% EMC SourceOne cuts storage and backup requirements by 60% We’ve already seen a 14,000 user organization achieve payback in just 7 months and 62% TCO savingsAt EMC, we’ve got more than half of our organization already on SourceOne. We’ll save an estimated $14M over three years, including 58% reduction in storage and backup costsOf course your mileage will vary by configuration, but is impressive, no matter how you slice it.

Several EMC customers have found that in order to obtain executive commitment and buy-in, a business case needs to have several critical components. Doculabshas helped several EMC customers successfully build business cases, suggest 4 critical components as part of their Business Case Modeling Framework. First is making sure that you are able to collect good cost data and use a sound set of assumptions that apply to your particular organization and business. Second is an heuristic model that uses this data and is able to quantify returns in a measurable and credible manner. Not too overly optimistic or pessimistic, but realistic!!Third is to also have some organizational benchmark data to depict how you as an organization compare with others on areas of costs, benefits potential, efficiency, risk appetite, etc.Last but certainly not the least is a simple, visually appealing way to represent all this complex information in an easy to understand fashion for executives. A graphical model, a calculator, something that can allow for some on-the-spot what-if analysis to truly demonstrate the severity of the problem, or the significance of the impact of an ECM solution. They had presented some case study examples in a session yesterday and are around in this show for those of you that didn’t get a chance to catch that session.
