Show SlideThis Intro section will be a review for some participants and should be covered pretty quickly. Gauge the knowledge level of your audience to adjust how quickly you cover this section. LEED provides opportunities to encourage and recognize performance associated with the following categories:Sustainable Sites Water EfficiencyEnergy and AtmosphereMaterial and ResourcesIndoor Environmental QualityInnovation in DesignRegional Priority LEED for Homes includes two additional categories: Locations & Linkages and Awareness & Education. LEED for Neighborhood Development, which applies to an entire neighborhood environment, has different categories to address its unique needs, including Green Infrastructure & Buildings, Neighborhood Pattern & Design and Locations & Linkages. For the balance of this course, we will talk about the general LEED categories that underlie all building types – focusing on those six categories illustrated in the left diagram above.Notes
Show SlideThis Intro section will be a review for some participants and should be covered pretty quickly. Gauge the knowledge level of your audience to adjust how quickly you cover this section. This shows an example of point distribution for a rating system. All LEED 2009 rating systems are based on a 100-point scale, with ID adding an extra 6 points and regionalization another 4 points. The LEED for Homes rating system is different – it is based on a 125-pt scale, with ID adding an extra 11 points. (Note: If asked, regionalization is not included in the Homes rating system at this time but will be considered in future updates.)
Show SlideThis Intro section will be a review for some participants and should be covered pretty quickly. Gauge the knowledge level of your audience to adjust how quickly you cover this section. Certification Levels shown apply to all LEED 2009 rating systems, except LEED for Homes. LEED for Homes: Total available points is 136. (Certified: 45-59; Silver: 60-74; Gold: 75-89; Platinum: 90+)Notes
Show SlideThe remainder of content in this workshop will be new to most participants.Review steps in the LEED certification process. The LEED certification process aligns with a typical construction project. Projects have two options: They may submit their application under the Design Phase first and then under Construction Phase or they may submit once in Design and Construction Phase. For LEED for Existing Buildings: Operation and Maintenance (O+M) these options are basically the same but there is one main difference. There is just one main phase - no Design & Construction split. And for O+M, there is a performance period in relation to applying for certification. Question & AnswerAsk if any participants have registered a project.Common questions that may arise when discussing the certification process:Q: If a credit is denied, is there a process? A: Yes – Appeal; different review teamQ: Preliminary review: when do you respond? A: Immediately is better; if you wait 2 years for next phase it may be hard to respond
