  • 1. Double Page Spread Analysis
  • 2. House style The colour scheme is blue, black and white, these simple colours reflect the heading of teenagers being undeveloped, this appeals to the teenage audience of the magazine. Layout The layout is conventional as it has a large photograph on the left hand page and a page of text on the right hand page, this gives a layout that the reader is familiar with and can relate to. Lure The phrase ‘everyone’s talking about…’ lures the reader in by making them feel that they are the only ones that don’t know about the feature that is in the next article.
  • 3. Layout This layout is a familiar one, as it has a page of text and a page with a picture on it, this familiar layout is professional but simple so it appeals to the teenage and young adult audience of the magazine. Main image The red in the main image of Lily Allen makes it the focal point of the two pages and this is enhanced because it is also the biggest thing on the two pages. She is also looking directly at the reader which directly involves them, building reader-writer relationship. Lure The large quote on the left hand page is a lure as it makes the reader look because it is also a large focal point, it makes the reader want to read the rest of the story.
  • 4. Lure The words ‘world exclusive!’ entice the reader into looking at them and the heading that is next to them, then the reader reads the rest of the story that is involved. Images The images on the page are all in black and white which makes them seem simplistic as do the simple colours of the rest of the things on the page, this appeals to the young audience of the magazine. Layout The layout is very audience friendly as it is very simple and coheres with the usual conventions of the contents page, it has a large picture on one page and text on the other.
  • 5. House style The colours that are mainly used are black and white this makes it appeal to the young audience as it is simple and more exciting and visually pleasing rather than a huge block of text. The sudden use of a yellow back grounded piece of text is used as a lure to attract the reader into reading the story. Layout This layout is more picture based than text as the picture takes up one page and half of the other one, this could connote that the magazine is rebellious and wants to break the mould by not following the regular conventions, this could in turn attract the cohering audience. Main image The main image covers the whole of the two pages and is covered itself by a small passage of text, this makes the picture seem more impacting and important as it is the largest thing on both of the pages, it is also the main focal point.
  • 6. Lure The red text in the centre of the two pages is a big lure as it is a very striking colour and is centred in the readers view so is probably the first thing that they will look at when the turn to these pages. Layout The layout of these pages makes the text seem like it is more important as it is cover both of the main images quite substantially, this makes these articles appeal to a more intellectual audience rather than a younger one as it is not as visually pleasing as most other music magazine double pages. Main images The main images cover the whole of the two pages and is covered itself by a large passage of text, this makes the picture seem less impacting and important as it is the largest thing but least impacting on both of the pages, the text is therefore the main focal point.

Lure The phrase ‘we are ready to rock’ draws the eye of the reader as it is a main focal point of the two pages as it is the largest font, this also makes the reader want to read into the story on the two pages. Layout The layout of these pages is very unusual as it doesn’t follow regular conventions, this may connote that it wants to break the mould, this reflects on the new and upcoming band ‘The Usual Suspects’ that are featured on these pages.
  • 9. House style The colours that are used are playful ones that may appeal to the young audience of the magazine, the font is also consistent through the page which gives a more professional look. Lure The quote at the bottom draws the eye of the reader as it is right next to the main image of Izzie, this makes the reader want to read on and go and look at the new photos on the next page. Layout The layout makes it look like the text is graffiti on the wall in the background of the main image, this give a rebellious feel to the page and may appeal to the young audience of the magazine.
