What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your product? What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your product? Presentation Transcript

    • What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your product?
    • When taking the photos I needed for my magazine, I used a digital camera. The first stage of constructing my magazine was taking these images. I learnt about the codes and conventions that are associated with taking photos, the main two being connotations and denotations. For example in the image that I have used on the front cover I have used a blue baseball cap, the connotations of this being American youth culture.
    • During my photo shoot I tried hard to ensure that I used the rule of thirds, to make the photo look even. I think that this helped to make my magazine look professional.
    • Once I had taken these photos I uploaded them to Iphoto. This allowed me to evaluate the photos and decide which ones needed to be retaken.
    • To edit and crop my photos I used Photoshop, I also adjusted the colour and contrast to allow my images to look more polished and professional. One of my photographs captured my artist’s musical sprit well, but the background looked dull and did not represent the genre of Hip-hop/R&B. To alter the appearance of the image I changed the picture using a neon glow. This gave it a modern, urban twist that represents young people. One disadvantage of using Photoshop is that your layers can be compressed, this stops the photo from being edited further, therefore photos must be saved as PSD rather than JPEG documents.

    • Pages
    • In the construction of my contents page and double page spread I used Pages. Pages allows you to easily rearrange text and photos. It also allows you to add simple but valuable effects to the photographs; one example of this is the thick line stroke, which adds a ripping effect.
One problem with Pages is that it does not offer the photo editing facilities that Photoshop does. But when you work with it in conjunction with Photoshop the results can look very professional.
    • To create my blog I used Blogger, this allowed me to upload the process of creating my music magazine. My blog contained a combination of text, images HTMLs and URLs.
    • The advantages of Blogspot are that you can link other media, such as YouTube and SildeShare. I uploaded videos from Youtube from the R&B/Hip-hop genre using the enable feature.
