  • 1. Welcome  to  the  Cloud  Epoch Duncan  Johnston-­‐Watt   @duncanjw

Thesis Cloud  is  no  longer  an  emerging  trend  -­‐  it  is  now   mainstream.  Cloud  is  transforming  the  way  we   think  about  technology  whether  we  are  a   consumer  or  a  provider;  whether  we  are  tackling   a  Big  Data  problem;  interested  in  the  Internet  of   Everything  or  just  want  to  deliver  a  better  service   to  our  customers.

Promise  (Theory) In  this  keynote  we  will  look  at  some  of  the   watershed  events  that  have  defined  Cloud  to   date;  we  will  anticipate  the  gestalt  shift  in  our   thinking  that  is  still  required  to  ensure  Cloud's   continuing  and  pervasive  influence  on  our  lives;   and  we  will  explain  why  this  is  an  epoch.
