What is Nifaq? <ul><li>Nifaq is derived from the word “nafaqa” means to pass through. </li></ul><ul><li>“ Nafaq” means tunnel. </li></ul><ul><li>“ Naafiqa” means rat’s hole with entry and exit holes. </li></ul><ul><li>“ Al dakhool fi shara’a min bab wal khuruj anho min baab.” Mufridat Imam Raghib Al Isphahani. </li></ul>

Why should we learn about NIFAQ? <ul><li>It is important to know what is Islam and also what is not Islam. </li></ul><ul><li>Characteristics of Munafiqoon are detailed in Quran and Hadith for Islah. </li></ul><ul><li>Sahaba and Tabeen were worried about NIFAQ. A-Hanzala ® B-Ibn Abee Mulaikah found 30 Sahaba worried about Nifaq. C-Ibrahim Tamimi worried himself. D- Hasan Basari,”Only a Munafiq feels safe about Nifaq and Momin is alert about it. </li></ul>
  • 4. Difference between Kufr and Nifaq. <ul><li>Kufr- Open denial of Islam and then may confront Islam openly. </li></ul><ul><li>Nifaq- Opposes and ambushes Islam in the garb of friendship and support with clandestine planning, strategies and conspiracies. </li></ul>
  • 5. 2 TYPES OF NIFAQ <ul><li>NIFAQ AQEEDA- ( Hypocrisy in belief). Such people declared Shahada but their hearts were still firm on Kufr. </li></ul><ul><li>NIFAQ AMAL-( Hypocrisy in actions)Such people entered Islam but they had weaknesses in their faith. </li></ul>

Reasons for Nifaq Amal <ul><li>Some entered the fold of Islam following their tribal leaders. </li></ul><ul><li>Some still had overwhelming love for this material world and its benefits. </li></ul><ul><li>Some had priority of their financial and business ventures and had no time for Akhira. </li></ul><ul><li>Others were suffering with doubts about the Risala of Prophet Mohammad (S). </li></ul>
  • 7. MOTIVES FOR NIFAQ <ul><li>To damage Islam from inside. Building Masjid Zarar is an example of causing division in Muslims. </li></ul><ul><li>Priority to material benefits and safeguarding self and assets from both sides. </li></ul><ul><li>Lack of true understanding of Islam.In Uhad during difficult combat,some expressed doubts about Allah. </li></ul>
  • 8. TYPES OF MUNAFIQOON <ul><li>I- MUNAFIQ IN BELIEF: </li></ul><ul><li>Plotting to damage Islam from inside. </li></ul><ul><li>. Conspiring for Kufr and apostacy </li></ul><ul><li>.Enemy spies. </li></ul><ul><li>.Planting the seeds of divisions. </li></ul>
  • 9. Types of Munafiqoon <ul><li>2-Serving selfish motives. </li></ul><ul><li>. Accepted Islam due to rising Islamic tide. </li></ul><ul><li>.Double face, trying to benefit from both sides. </li></ul><ul><li>.Purely materialist. </li></ul><ul><li>.Greedy for false notoriety and praise. </li></ul>
  • 10. Types of Munafiqoon <ul><li>II- Munafiqoon Amal or action. </li></ul><ul><li>1- Serving selfish material motives. </li></ul><ul><li>2- Suffering with doubts. </li></ul>
  • 11. Actions related to Nifaq. Miqyasun Nifaq. <ul><li>A-General: </li></ul><ul><li>Dicotomy between inside and out. (Fatah, 11) </li></ul><ul><li>Selfish and opportunist. (AlNisa,140) </li></ul><ul><li>Consider Iman as foolishness.( Baqara, 13) </li></ul><ul><li>Happy at the sufferings of Ummah and sad when Ummah flourishes.(Al-Imran, 120) </li></ul>
  • 12. Actions related to Nifaq. <ul><li>5-Not to accept the truth because of personal pride. (Baqara, 206) </li></ul><ul><li>6-Consider oneself above the need for istighfar. (Munafiqoon,5) </li></ul><ul><li>7-Ridicule the statements of Quran.(Mudassir,32) </li></ul><ul><li>8-Abandon faith in hardship. (Haj,11) </li></ul><ul><li>9-Moving forward in sin and evil deeds.(Maida,62) </li></ul>
  • 13. Actions related to Nifaq. <ul><li>10-Swearing falsely for selfish purpose. (Munafiqoon,2) </li></ul><ul><li>11-False promises.( Hashar,11) </li></ul><ul><li>12-Seek credit for something not done. (Al Imran,188) </li></ul><ul><li>13-Cowardice. (Tauba, 56) </li></ul><ul><li>14- Scared of every calamity. (Munafiqoon, 4) </li></ul>
  • 14. Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>15-Practice what is -easy in “Ahkam” but avoid what is difficult. (Nisa,77) </li></ul><ul><li>16-Earning and eating “Haram”. (Al Maida,62) </li></ul><ul><li>17-Deceive in trusts.( Bukhari, kitabul iman.) </li></ul><ul><li>18-Use foul language during arguments.(Bukhari) </li></ul><ul><li>19-To tell lies. </li></ul><ul><li>20-Have animosity against the true believers. </li></ul>
  • 15. Actions related to Nifaq. <ul><li>B-QURAN: </li></ul><ul><li>Ridicule the ayat of Quran.(Tauba,65) </li></ul><ul><li>Pay no attention to ayat and run away from ayat of Quran.(Mudassir,49-50) </li></ul><ul><li>(Tauba, 127) </li></ul>
  • 16. Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>C-Dawah. </li></ul><ul><li>Enjoin evil and forbid goodness. (Tauba, 67) </li></ul><ul><li>In order to spread disliking against Islam, accept Islam one day and reject it the next day. (Al Imran,72) </li></ul>
  • 17. Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>D-Salat. </li></ul><ul><li>Ridicule Salat, Azan.(Maida, 58) </li></ul><ul><li>Consider Salat as a burden, to come to masjid for show and with hesitation. (Nisa, 142) </li></ul>
  • 18. Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>E-Infaq. </li></ul><ul><li>Consider spending in the way of Allah as a fine. (Tauba,98) </li></ul><ul><li>Spend in Allah’s way with disdain.(Tauba,54) </li></ul><ul><li>Show “Bukhl” or miserliness .(Tauba,76) </li></ul><ul><li>Ridicule the spending of poor Muslims.(Tauba,79) </li></ul>

Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>F-Jihad </li></ul><ul><li>Afraid of the call for Jihad.(Mohammd,20) </li></ul><ul><li>Present excuses not to go for Jihad.(Tauba,86) </li></ul><ul><li>Deny the need for Jihad.(Al Imran,167) </li></ul><ul><li>More worried about their self in the field of Jihad.(Al Imran, 154) </li></ul>

Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>5-Run away from Jihad to save themselves from harm.(Ahzab,13) </li></ul><ul><li>6-Happy to be away from Jihad.(Tauba,81) </li></ul><ul><li>7-Discouraging others from joining Jihad.(Ahzab,18) </li></ul><ul><li>8-To go for Jihad when there is no danger to life or porperty.(Tauba,42) </li></ul><ul><li>9-When the struggle is over, then welcome the Muslims with good words to win their favor.(Tauba,42) </li></ul>
  • 21. Actions related to Nifaq. <ul><li>10-If they have to participate in Jihad, then they would create trouble among the Muslims.(Tauba, 47) </li></ul><ul><li>11-Participate in Jihad just for material benefits.(Nisa, 73-Ahzab,19-Tauba,58-Nisa,141) </li></ul>
  • 22. Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>G-Hijra. </li></ul><ul><li>Prefer love for family and land and refuse migration when ordered.(Nisa,97) </li></ul><ul><li>Live in Kufr system without any reason and cooperate with it. </li></ul>
  • 23. Actions related to Nifaq. <ul><li>H-Islamic State and Jamaah. </li></ul><ul><li>Sinful “Najwa”. (Mujadla,8) </li></ul><ul><li>Spread the news among people which was supposed to be told to leadership. (Nisa, 83) </li></ul><ul><li>Keep in touch with both sides to protect self interest.(Nisa,91) </li></ul><ul><li>Promote “fitna”. (Nisa,91) </li></ul>

Actions related to Nifaq <ul><li>5-Keep friendly relation with enemies of Islam.(Nisa,139) </li></ul><ul><li>6-Promise to help the enemies.(Hashar,11) </li></ul><ul><li>7-Seek respect among the disbelievers.(Nisa, 139) </li></ul><ul><li>8-Seek decisions in their matters from courts not deciding according to islamic law.(Nisa,60-Noor,48,49) </li></ul><ul><li>9- Prejudice of race and tribes.(Munafiqoon,8) </li></ul>

Difference between Munafiq and sinner. <ul><li>When a Muslim commits sin: </li></ul><ul><li>1- He commits it based upon ignorance or overwhelmed with temporary urge of nafs. </li></ul><ul><li>2- After he commits the sin, his conscience bathers him. He turns to Allah and does Tauba and Istighfar. </li></ul><ul><li>3-He does not persist on the sin. </li></ul><ul><li>(Al Imran,135-Tauba,102-Nahal,119) </li></ul>
