  • 2. 2 INTRODUCTION What if the best body of your life wasn’t when you were in high school? What if the best body of your life wasn’t before you had your babies? What if the best body of your life was ahead of you – just around the corner – leaner...stronger...happier...you, only better? My name is Tiara Cameron, and I’ve designed this program exclusively for women because let’s face it: the demands we face are not the same as the demands men face. We have different desires, different needs, different amounts of time, different hormones, and if you’re like most women, different relationships with food. (Ever see a man face-down in a pint of Häagen-Dazs because his boss called him out at work? Me either.) I know what it’s like to hate the way you look, to want to make a real change, but to feel totally helpless and demotivated about how to get there. I know what it’s like to think that the best you’ll ever look was when you were in high school. I’m here to tell you it’s not: you can make a total transformation from flab to fab without ever going to the gym, without starving yourself, and without sacrificing real life in pursuit of your ideal body. How can I promise all this? I’ve been there. You see, I found myself at the bottom of that proverbial pint of Häagen-Dazs, a size 14, feeling sorry for myself because I felt like I could never get back the body I had in my 20s. Maybe you’ve been there too. BUT THEN I STUMBLED UPON A SECRET AND I CHANGED MY LIFE: I WENT FROM A SIZE 14 TO A SIZE 4 AND I’VE STAYED THAT WAY FOR OVER A DECADE. I TURNED 40 THIS SPRING, AND AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE TO THE RIGHT, IT WAS THE PHOTO SHOOT OF MY DREAMS.

I’ve written this book in eight chapters so that you can skip to the part that you need first, or you can read it all cover-to-cover. I know how busy women are these days. Believe me – as a mother of three school-aged children, a personal trainer, a model, and a business woman, I don’t have a lot of extra time in my day, either! So feel free to consume this book at the best speed for you. You won’t find information on how to starve yourself for an event next weekend, but you will find out exactly how to build a beautiful, feminine body that is trained for ‘Go’, not ‘Show’ (more about that in the next chapter), and create a strong foundation so that your body keeps itself looking good and feeling great for the rest of your life. I would suggest you read the whole book at some point so that you understand exactly why you aren’t lean and fit now (and why you’re probably not likely to ever get there if you are following diet and exercise tips from mainstream media), but if you’re in a hurry, jump ahead to the diet and exercises at the back of this book. When you’ve got more time, read the rest of this book so that you can understand exactly how The Tiara Transformation System works. Throughout the book there are sections marked “Tiara Secret”. These are the extras, the little things only your best girlfriend would share with you, that make the difference between a body that’s good, and a body that’s great. I want you to know exactly what I know so that you too are in the know about the secret shortcuts to success.
  • 4. 4 THE TIARA STORY Let me take you back to where my story begins. I was in my early 30s, newly divorced and the mother of three children – a babe-in-arms, a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old. I was working full time with no time to spare. I wasn’t the model I had been in my teens and 20s: I was 45 pounds heavier and a whole lot less energetic. That’s me staring down that cake, by the way. I don’t have to tell you who won that contest! Recovering from a divorce is like recovering from a lot of traumas: it takes a long time, and it’s much easier if you have something to focus on. If you’ve had something shake your world, you know what I’m talking about. I decided I needed to get myself back into shape. It would be my therapy. I didn’t know how to do it at first, but I knew I would feel better about myself and have more energy if I could only get back to my old figure. I never imagined that I could have a better, stronger, healthier body than I had in my early 20s. I never imagined that the best body of my life was ahead of me, the way it’s ahead of you right now. Running Fast In The Wrong Direction... Like most women, I jumped onto two things right away: a fad diet and a treadmill. There are billions of dollars spent on advertising diet ‘this’ and exercise ‘that’ and I was as susceptible as anyone. I tried the Atkins diet, and felt exhausted, cranky, and miserable at the thought of having to sustain the bacon- and-cheese- bunless-burger lifestyle forever. Try explaining to your three-year-old why you’re pulling the filling out of sandwiches! I tried the South Beach Diet next, but the minute – the very minute – my eldest got sick and required my attention, I fell right off the program. I didn’t have the time to track my food and plan everything in advance. I had a family to look after, and a single working mom doesn’t have a team covering her at a time like that. Something had to give.
  • 5. 5 “I DECIDED THAT IF I JUST SPENT ENOUGH TIME ON THE TREADMILL AND ATE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE, I WOULD GET DOWN TO THE SIZE FOUR I WANTED TO BE.” I joined a health club that had child care, and decided that if I just spent enough time on the treadmill and ate as little as possible, I would get down to the size four I wanted to be. I spent an hour a day – 6 days a week! – on the treadmill, and I was always looking for a low calorie quick fix to boost up my calorie-starved body. I dropped some weight and then quickly plateaued. I was investing more time than I wanted to into exercise, and I was left feeling exhausted – depleted – joyless. Oh, and my body was still jiggly, flabby, and 20 pounds away from where I wanted to be. This wasn’t what I wanted – not at all. Not Starving: Strong I started looking around the gym, in health magazines, on TV– how did those women get the body I wanted? I wanted to be tight. I wanted my cellulite gone – forever! The best bodies in the gym were women lifting weights, and not the ones on the treadmills around me or in step class. The best bodies weren’t starving like a Calvin Klein model: they were strong. Strong, with healthy muscles and athletic forms. These women had the body I wanted. Not Emaciated: Emancipated! It was a Eureka moment. The bodies I truly admired and wanted to look like weren’t the ones that looked as though they never saw daylight and certainly couldn’t lift a chair: I wanted to be strong, and beautiful, and a role model for my daughter to look up to. I wanted to be the woman whose arms looked strong enough to hold a child, and whose legs could run after her children tirelessly all day. I wanted an athlete’s body. I didn’t want to train for ‘show’, I wanted to train for ‘go’. I began to research how to turn my body into a tight, strong, lean, shapely thing of beauty. Now, don’t get me wrong: I love babies, but I didn’t need a permanent reminder of my pregnancies on my hips, tush and thighs! I wanted to know how I could get strong now and stay tight and strong forever, without starving, without depriving myself, and without gaining crazy amounts of weight every time I walked past a baguette or my son got strep throat. I needed a solution that I could live with no matter what life threw at me.
  • 6. 6 Getting Off the Treadmill... Figuratively and Literally The research was hard to swallow at first, but the more I learned, the more I understood what was happening to my body, and why it didn’t matter how many hours I ran on the treadmill. I finally made the leap off the treadmill, and I picked up a weight. “I CUT MY CARDIO DOWN TO A SINGLE 20-MINUTE SESSION PER WEEK.” I started weight training 4 days per week for an hour each day and dramatically increased my protein intake. I cut my cardio down to a single 20-minute session per week. It was unlike anything I had ever done before. To my dismay, my weight actually went up! If I were just using the scale – a blunt instrument at best – to gauge my success, I would have quit right then and there. However, all the research I had done was telling me the science behind what I was doing was sound, so I hung in there. Suddenly, something miraculous was happening...even though I was getting heavier, my dress size was decreasing. I literally dropped two jeans sizes without an ounce of weight loss showing on the scale! “THE CELLULITE STARTED MELTING OFF MY LEGS...” My body loved it! I had reached the point where I had built enough lean muscle that I started dropping weight fast. Muscle is made of protein, so I discovered the importance of high protein intake so I could build this calorie- and fat-consuming lean muscle I needed. The muscle needed calories to maintain itself and I was transforming my body into a calorie burning furnace! The cellulite started melting off my legs, and instead of the jiggle and flab of a treadmill addict, my curves started to emerge from their cocoon. I was getting stronger and tighter. It was empowering! I kept waiting for the inevitable muscle ballooning. Surely my thighs would become chunky, and my calves would get big, right? I mean, that’s what all women think will happen when we weight train. I decided I would keep going until that
  • 7. 7 happened. My research told me that without the male hormone testosterone to help swell my muscles, I would not get bigger, just stronger and more defined. That was a hard concept to believe in, but I kept going on faith alone anyway. I got stronger...and smaller. Defined and tight. Not bigger and bulkier. What was going on? Getting To The Bottom of My Disappearing Bottom I had to know what was happening. I moved out West, abandoning a career in telecommunications and getting certified as a personal trainer and in sports nutrition. I learned so much about how to change your body – really change your body – that I couldn’t help but want to share it with everyone I met. I was so excited I opened my own personal training studio. Not only was I passionate about my finds: I was able to make it my life’s work, while still raising my children the way I wanted to. What I learned was so simple, and yet very very powerful, and it has formed the basis for the program I have used to help women all around the continent. Three things really crystalized my change, and they now make up the basis of The Tiara Transformation System: 1. Proper protein intake was absolutely essential to developing the strong, lean body I had always wanted. 2. Women and men need to train differently. There is no one-size-fits-both fitness regime: our bodies are made differently and they react differently in their muscle development. 3. Training for ‘Go’ instead of training for ‘Show’ was the key to making my body look and feel the best it ever had before. Once I started thinking of myself as an athlete instead of a dieter, life changed for the better in every way. From Flab To Fab I began to train college and high school athletes on the side, at a sports performance school. The more body types I worked with, the more I refined my theories. Working with athletes who were training under some of the best coaches and nutritionists in the country added to my body of research, and I was soon able to develop a fitness lifestyle that would work no matter who you were or what you did for a living.
  • 8. 8 I learned about things I had never heard of before: about nutrient timing, about varying your training methods, and above all, about protein. Lots of protein. I couldn’t argue with the science and research of how a woman’s body worked...and it was absolutely working for me and for my clients and friends. The system I developed was so successful that I became a sought-after fitness model. If you had told me on that dark day in 2004 when I thought I would never get out of bed again that one day I’d be in a skimpy red bikini being paid to pose for the camera, I would have laughed in your face. And yet here I was – transformed. ME, ONLY LEANER. ME, ONLY STRONGER. ME, ONLY MORE CONFIDENT, MORE SEXY, MORE OF EVERYTHING I HADN’T BEEN SINCE MY TEENS AND 20s. Well, more of everything except flabby, of course! I found myself walking into health clubs I’d never been in before in new cities, only to be surprised that one of my fitness modeling pictures was displayed on the wall! I was someone totally different, totally successful, and finally happy with myself.
  • 9. 9 Creating The Tiara Transformation System I realized that women didn’t have a clear, proven formula that worked for them. Women’s needs are not the same as men’s. Women as a general rule lead much more layered lives, juggling responsibilities that would make most men cower in fear. Women are constantly misinformed by aggressive marketing campaigns that wear down their confidence and make them feel miserable. Women allow the scale to judge them, and they measure their confidence in pounds and ounces. I WANTED THAT TO END FOR ALL WOMEN! I WANTED ALL WOMEN TO FEEL AS AMAZING AND POWERFUL AS I DID. I began to focus on training women exclusively and teaching them how to feed their bodies to help their muscles grow while their bodies shrank. And so I started developing The Tiara Transformation System. It had to work through Thanksgiving, it had to work through moving across the country, it had to work on a cruise ship or a week of late nights at work. It had to be a formula for a lifestyle that would survive a woman’s life. And it does. Over a decade later, I’m still in the best shape of my life. What about you? You see, in the years I’ve been training women, I’ve discovered that what women really want is a tight body where nothing jiggles. More energy. Less lower body fat. Toned, shapely curves that make them look womanly. Oh, and they want change that you can see, quickly. “I HAVE YET TO HEAR A WOMAN TELL ME SHE WANTS A BODY LIKE A MARATHON RUNNER.” Marathon runners may be skinny from hours of depleting themselves through running, but I have yet to hear a woman tell me she wants a body like a marathon runner. Most women want a more athletic, toned, tight body – like a beach volleyball player or a ballroom dancer. Trouble is, they don’t know how to achieve it. So they hop on the treadmill, cut their calories way back, and wait. And wait. And wait.
