  • 4. What one group or individual does...influences everyone
  • 5. Collective Influence It does not need you to be aware of it. It is highly influential with or without approval.
  • 6. Actions, approaches and decisions create knock on effects
  • 7. They transfer their energy throughout the organisation This is Collective Influence
  • 8. This might be helpful or unhelpful energy
  • 9. As an individual...you have an ‘inner dialog’...you talk to yourself
  • 10. This personal dialogue is a very helpful influence on you
  • 11. You use ‘inner dialog’ to explore ideas and opportunities You use it to frame ‘context’ and make sense of things
  • 12. An organisation also has a complex ‘inner dialog’…
  • 13. Organisations unconsciously use their inner dialog (from its many meetings) for the same purpose
  • 14. This inner dialog contributes to the organisation’s Collective Influence
  • 15. Meetings are a major trigger of Collective Influence
  • 16. They are a major trigger because they impact so many people
  • 17. They also impact all levels
  • 18. Meetings broadcast information, outlooks, attitudes, decisions and approaches to all in the organisation Information Decisions Attiudes
  • 19. They spark emotions and transfer them
  • 20. Meetings strongly influence organisational culture
  • 21. Spheres of Influence create an overall Collective Influence
  • 22. There are risks attached to the way this happens...
  • 23. It might create an unhelpful introspection Collective Influence
  • 24. It might create ‘group think’ Collective Influence
  • 25. It might unconsciously create a firewall against new ideas, innovation and change Collective Influence
  • 26. Collective Influence It might reinforce an unhelpful perspective
  • 27. There are risks attached to the way meetings create a collective influence These risks can easily be managed as long as the organisation is aware of them
