What is an urban village? <ul><li>Urban villages encourage community instead of sprawl </li></ul><ul><li>Use public space and pedestrian walks for human interaction </li></ul><ul><li>Reduce reliance on the automobile </li></ul><ul><li>Vancouver’s West End is an excellent example of an urban village </li></ul>
  3. 3. The West End <ul><li>Is urban - m ore than 80% of Westenders are renters. </li></ul><ul><li>We have over 22,000 rental apartments. </li></ul><ul><li>We have over 46,000 people living in about 10 square blocks. </li></ul>
