  1. 1. Design Ventura Bringing the business of design to life.
  2. 2. <ul><li>Design Ventura is a new design and enterprise project that aims to develop enterprise and creativity skills. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>The project is run by the Design Museum and is generously supported by Deutsche Bank. </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Ventura Brief
  5. 5. Create a well designed product for the Design Museum Shop
  6. 6. <ul><li>The product needs to be creative and different from everyday museum gift shop products. </li></ul>
  7. 8. Specification
  8. 9. Target audience <ul><li>Young people - particularly student visitors aged 14-25. </li></ul><ul><li>You can decide whether to appeal to the whole age-range, or whether to select a group within this range. </li></ul>
  9. 11. Manufacturing <ul><li>You must be able to make your product using materials and technology easily available - ideally from your school or local area. </li></ul><ul><li>You need to show how you could produce a batch of 6 editions/copies of your product. </li></ul>
  10. 13. Sustainability <ul><li>You should consider the wider environmental and ethical implications of your idea. </li></ul><ul><li>Can you create a design and a business model that does minimizes waste? </li></ul>
  11. 15. Costing and budget <ul><li>Your product should retail at around £10 per item. </li></ul><ul><li>You will need to think about manufacturing costs, packaging and marketing and the value of your own time. </li></ul>

  16. 20. Ventura Competition <ul><li>There are two Ventura competitions: </li></ul><ul><li>- Ventura Workshop Competition </li></ul><ul><li>- Virtual Ventura Competition </li></ul>

Prizes <ul><li>Everyone that completes the project will receive a commemorative certificate. </li></ul><ul><li>Best workshop team will receive access to funding to make and sell their product </li></ul><ul><li>Best Virtual Ventura teams will receive trophies and the chance to exhibit in the Design Museum Shop. </li></ul>
  18. 22. Competition rules <ul><li>Participants must be from years 9, 10 or 11 </li></ul><ul><li>Teams must be of 4-6 students </li></ul><ul><li>Only one team per school can be considered for the competion prizes </li></ul>
