  • 2. <ul><li>Bharti Foundation </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Satya Bharti School Program </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable and holistic model of quality education in rural India </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Present Operational Status: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Schools Operational: 236 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Students Enrolled: Over 30,000 </li></ul></ul></ul>Introduction
  • 3. <ul><li>Geographical Location : </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Sultangarh is located at 40 km from NH-8 and District office of Bharti Foundation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The village comes under Khundroth Panchayat. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Total House Hold – 33 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Total Population of Village -200 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The village declared Below Poverty Line village by State Govt. on efforts of Bharti Foundation and today each family is holding the BPL Card. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Satya Bharti Govt. Primary School is the only School in the Village. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Most of the population is migratory in nature and they are working as a Snake Charmers. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Transportation/ communication is not existing in village . </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Nearest Health Centre, bus stand, Bank, Post office & Police station is Mandhan which is approx. 4-5 km form the village. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The nearest market for village is Mandhan which is approx. 4-5 km form the village </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Hand pump is only the source of water but most of the time it does not work so that they have to fetch the water from 1-2km. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The most of families are living either in tent and huts. </li></ul></ul>About the Community
  • 4. <ul><li>Cultural Background : </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Majority of the population belongs to Hindu community -Nath Community (Snake Charmer) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They followed the most of the Hindu rituals, but they do not followed the Hindu Marriage & funeral Systems. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dominant Cast in Village is Sapera (Snake Charmer) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The community earn their bread & butter by begging & snakes Shows </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The dressing style of community is long Kurta & Dhoti for men and women dressing style is Ghagra & Odhni. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They prefer to have non veg. food in a day at least once </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The community does not believe in family planning </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The community is migratory in nature </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They are the followers of Goga ji Mahraj </li></ul></ul>About the Community
  • 5. <ul><li>There are lots of problem in the village but personal hygiene is one of the major problem. Due to unhygienic condition villagers faced many Health problem. </li></ul>We ‘Felt’:
  • 6. <ul><li>Total community is migratory in nature. They don't reside any where for a long time. Therefore the condition of hygiene and sanitation is very poor. Due to that our kids decided to make a remarkable change to initiate step to improve the personal health & hygiene of community people by counselling individuals, groups along with the nukad natak planned by them. </li></ul>We ‘Imagined’:
  • 7. <ul><li>Organised a meeting with community people to make them understand about the initiative of Satya Bharti School. </li></ul><ul><li>Organised the rally in community . </li></ul><ul><li>Make them aware about importance of Personal Hygiene in our Life. </li></ul><ul><li>Conducted Street play in different location of community on importance of Personal Hygiene. </li></ul>We ‘Did’:

  • 9. <ul><li>Make community people more aware about their personal Hygiene. </li></ul><ul><li>People understand the importance of healthy life. </li></ul><ul><li>They adopt the ways suggested by children and keep their community clean & Hygienic. </li></ul>Impact on Community:
  • 10. <ul><li>Proud to be a part of this campaign and become change agents in the Understand the felt need of community and work on it which gives new learning to them . </li></ul><ul><li>Children feel community. </li></ul><ul><li>Staff members gained the confidence to deal with community problems which is totally different from daily class room teaching. </li></ul><ul><li>They are curious to do such activity in near future and willing to do something different from their daily routine work. </li></ul>Impact on Us:
  • 11. <ul><li>The teachers realize that they have done something special which make real difference in the life of community people. </li></ul><ul><li>The community people feel that they can improve their quality of life by adopting good habits. </li></ul>Experience of Community Members & Teachers:
  • 12. <ul><li>We will be in touch with community people and adopt the policy of reach every one and aware them about personal health & Hygiene. </li></ul><ul><li>We will monitor their progress on weekly basis and call them in Parents Teachers meeting so that we can discuss with them. </li></ul><ul><li>We will try to identify other community problem and prepare the action plan for the same. </li></ul>The Road Ahead…..
