  • 2. <ul><li>Bharti Foundation </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Satya Bharti School Program </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable and holistic model of quality education in rural India </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Present Operational Status: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Schools Operational: 236 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Students Enrolled: Over 30,000 </li></ul></ul></ul>Introduction

About the Community <ul><li>Geographical Location: </li></ul><ul><li>Madho Singh Pura is situated very near to National High Way No.8 (Delhi – Jaipur High Way). </li></ul><ul><li>The nearest Govt. Sr. Secondary School is in Neemrana which is aprrox. 5 kms. From the village, </li></ul><ul><li>The Nearest Government Primary Health Centre situated in Neemrana. </li></ul><ul><li>The nearest Post office & Banks is situated in Neemrana. </li></ul><ul><li>The nearest Police station is Neemrana. </li></ul><ul><li>The nearest market is Neemrana which is approx. 5 km form the village. </li></ul><ul><li>Drinking water facility provided by government and constructed water supply tank, apart from this Hand pumps and bore wells are other source of water. </li></ul><ul><li>The main occupation of villagers are mining, working and other Business but few people are also engaged in agriculture. </li></ul><ul><li>The village is well connected with approach road and connecting to NH 8. </li></ul><ul><li>The village situated the nearest of Indian Export Promotion Zone & Japanese Zone and of RICCO. </li></ul>
  • 4. <ul><ul><li>Cultural Background </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Majority of the population belongs to Hindu community . </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dominant cast in village is Saini (Mali). </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The villagers followed the all Hindu rituals and festivals. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The dressing style of community is long white Kurta & Dhoti / Pant & Shirt, for men and women dressing style is Ghagra & Odhni. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It’s a mix culture of Rajasthan & Hariyana as Hariyana border is very close to this location. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They are the followers of all Hindu God & Goddess. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It is Men dominant community and they are the main decision makers. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Prevalence of Dowry is very high in the village. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They are still following the Early Marriage/Child Marriage. </li></ul></ul>About the Community
  • 5. <ul><li>There are many problems in the village but we felt that Dowry is one of the major social problem of village. </li></ul>We ‘Felt’:
  • 6. <ul><li>Dowry is one of the evil practices in our country. It causes a great impact and social disturbances. Our students have decided to conduct rallies, campaign, nukad natak to aware the villagers. </li></ul>We ‘Imagined’:
  • 7. <ul><li>Organised a meeting with community people to make them understand about the initiative of Satya Bharti School. </li></ul><ul><li>Organised a rally on dowry and educate community people. </li></ul><ul><li>Conducted Street play in different location of community on dowry. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare the Slogans & posters on dowry. </li></ul><ul><li>Write a message against Dowry on walls & other public Places. </li></ul>We ‘Did’:
  • 8. <ul><li>The community people recognized the effort of Satya Bharti School. </li></ul><ul><li>The villagers told that “Satya Bahrti School is not only providing quality education to their children but they are also educating villagers on various Social issues”. </li></ul><ul><li>Village Sarpanch appreciated the initiative of Satya Bahrti School and asked the villagers to be a part of this campaign and eliminate such social problems from their village. </li></ul>Impact on Community:
  • 9. <ul><li>Understand the felt need of community and work on it. </li></ul><ul><li>The girl child feel proud to be a part of this campaign and become change agents. </li></ul><ul><li>The teachers were confident to take such initiative in Saini Community. </li></ul><ul><li>It was great feeling for all girls, those are studying with Satya Bharti School. </li></ul>Impact on Us:
  • 10. <ul><li>The teachers feel that they can make a difference in society by initiating such kind of campaign in the village and eliminate the dowry system from our society. </li></ul><ul><li>The community people feel that they can work together for such social evil and eliminate from their village. </li></ul><ul><li>They got the confidence to raise their voice against Dowry. </li></ul>Experience of Community Members & Teachers:
  • 11. <ul><li>We will be in touch with community people and request to stop such practices in their village. </li></ul><ul><li>To educate community people about the Anti Dowry Act. </li></ul>The Road Ahead….. (in the next 3 months)
