  2. 2. <ul><li>Bharti Foundation </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The prime objective is to bridge the existing education divide and make quality education accessible to underprivileged children in rural India. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Satya Bharti School Program </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Present Operational Status: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Schools Operational: 236 </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Students Enrolled: Over 30,000 </li></ul></ul></ul>Introduction
  3. 3. <ul><li>Geographical Location : 75 Kms. Away from Jodhpur city. Dholeria Jagir has the fertile land but the farming is mainly depends on rain because of scarcity of water. </li></ul><ul><li>Cultural Background : Dholeria Jagir village is mainly formed by Patel & Rajpurohit community. Farming & labour is the main occupation of the villagers. </li></ul><ul><li>Role of Satya Bharti School in the Village : Satya Bharti School is providing quality education to the children of this village from 2007. The school proved itself as a great “Change Maker” in the field of education. The Satya Bharti School, Dholeria is providing free education to those students who are underprivileged & can not afford hi-tech education. In this school, there is no discrimination of caste, colour & religion and all students are equal on a same platform. </li></ul><ul><li>Participation in ‘Design for Change’ School Contest : SBS Dholeria Jagir participated in “Design for Change” contest and put an idea for sanitation in village which is major problem of this village. </li></ul>About the Community
  4. 4. <ul><li>Villagers used the open area as a toilet. </li></ul><ul><li>Throwing waste anywhere. </li></ul><ul><li>Using plastic bags at maximum. </li></ul><ul><li>Waste & dirty water sanitation system is not proper. </li></ul>We ‘Felt’:

We ‘Imagined’: <ul><li>Talk to community leaders like – Sarpanch, Ward Panch & Old aged people. </li></ul><ul><li>Meeting at village Chaupal. </li></ul><ul><li>Make some responsible person from village. </li></ul><ul><li>Make a rally with the help of students. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare some slogans. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare banners & role play. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare V class students for the reduction and no use of plastic in houses & village. </li></ul><ul><li>We will made a small Bio-gas plant with the help of community and will use the animals waste in a useful manner. </li></ul>

We ‘Did’: <ul><li>We start a rally from school to village with the help of students. </li></ul><ul><li>We made three groups and distribute responsibilities like- collecting waste plastics from surrounding areas, collect animals dunk & make a drainage system nearby Gram Panchayat. </li></ul><ul><li>Around 70-75 members were the eye witness of the students work. </li></ul><ul><li>Class V students present a role play in front of villagers. </li></ul><ul><li>All villagers & students collected in the school. </li></ul><ul><li>V students present a model of proper sanitation & explained to community members. </li></ul><ul><li>Teacher explained the water recycling system. </li></ul>

Impact on Community: <ul><li>Community members aware about the dieses which spread through wastes. </li></ul><ul><li>Donors & Gram Panchayat promised to students to make 2-3 public toilets in the village. </li></ul><ul><li>Sarpanch of the village promised to give a mini solar system for the toilets. </li></ul><ul><li>A community member promised to repair the Bio-gas plant for the effective use of animals dunk. </li></ul><ul><li>Villagers took oath for not to use plastic bags & open spaces as a toilet. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Earning for society through bio-fertilizers. </li></ul><ul><li>Regular meetings with community & ensure that the community is doing or not , what the students messaged to them. </li></ul><ul><li>Signing on more oath letters. </li></ul><ul><li>Resource new public toilets through Panchayat of Local Leaders. </li></ul><ul><li>Generate electricity through bio-gas plant. </li></ul><ul><li>Focus on paper bags. </li></ul>The Road Ahead….. (in the next 3 months)
