Resource Library General Meeting Information Contact UsMessage from Dr. Barbara FloodPresident, Denver Coach FederationI am visiting friends in Tucson and feeling the beginning of the desert heat. After thecool winds of the Rocky Mountains, it is a pleasant relief. As I am winding down mytenure as the president of the Denver Coach Federation, I am reminded of all of theseasons of the past year. It has been a tremendous pleasure to work with such atalented and enthusiastic organization.In this past year, the Denver Coach Federation Board of Directors has gone through ametamorphosis as we took on the task of expanding our vision and our foundation forthe organization. Your participation in that vision has been very inspiring, providing thenecessary clarity.Volunteering to serve always has its unexpected fruits; the people, the challenges, thenew view of one’s own strengths and frailties. I remember the first time I came to theDCF. As I walked into the room, I felt an amazing energy of excitement, acceptance andsincere belief in the possibilities for all of us. I knew that I was in the right place. Hereeveryone could flourish.When I was invited to broaden my participation to include a position on the BOD, I wasthrilled and honored. I was delighted to have the opportunity to give back, to offer myappreciation through my service to an organization I so admired. And I was curiouswhere we would be led in the way of expansion and growth.

With the support of a talented and enthusiastic BOD and the vision and clarity of ourmembers, we have together expanded our opportunities to preserve the intent andpurpose of the coaching industry; educated our membership and the larger communityregarding coaching; and successfully protected our legacy as coaches and our freedomto offer our skills and talents.I want to thank you for allowing me this opportunity.Now I will gently recede to the background, holding the space to champion the DCF andthe new President as Kim Clausen takes the gavel. Her leadership will take us evenfurther on the path of successfully defining and clarifying the role of coaching.We are fortunate to be alive in this place at this time. We live in interesting, challengingand extremely rewarding times.
