This is part two of our mini series on two short phrases that Jesus spoke. The phrase for today were some of the last and most powerful words Jesus ever spoke.
3. Later, knowing that everything had now
been finished, and so that Scripture
would be fulfilled, Jesus said,“I am
thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there,
so they soaked a sponge in it, put the
sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and
lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had
received the drink, Jesus said,“It is
finished.” With that, he bowed his head
and gave up his spirit.
John 19:28-30
5. For I am already being poured out like a
drink offering, and the time for my departure
is near. I have fought the good fight, I have
finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now
there is in store for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
Judge, will award to me on that day—and not
only to me, but also to all who have longed
for his appearing.
