    3. 3. GETTING SOCIAL (AND DIGITAL) WITH SHRM
    4. 4. Connecting: 2014 vs. 2013 Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved4 • Interesting changes from 2013 to 2014. • Still curious that there was no QR code. It could have at least helped promote the mobile app. • I heard the Twitterverse was extremely active again, with the #SHRM14 hashtag trending again. Don’t know about other platforms.
    5. 5. Other Digital Engagement Copyright © 2013, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved5 • SHRM promoted the mobile app quite heavily. I didn’t get much use out of it myself, but others I talked to found it valuable. • The “wandering robot” (aka SHRMBOT) was a fun way to provide support for people having trouble using it. • The “quantity” emphasis on SHRM’s digital presences was interesting, as it is now generally considered passé. Quality matters more. • But at least they have a QR code here! 
    6. 6. Traditional & New Media Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved6 These lounges were right next to each other, demonstrating the importance of both social and traditional media. The credentialing requirement for both also reinforced the legitimacy of HR bloggers as “members of the media.”
    7. 7. Facilitating Face-to-Face Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved7 A good idea, but I’m not sure it was really necessary. People seemed to engage in lots of chats without prompting…
    8. 8. MORE SOCIAL AND DIGITAL FACILITATION
    9. 9. Social and Digital Engagement Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved9 Careerbuilder leveraged social and digital technology in a variety of ways to entice and engage attendees. It started with a bar-coded lollipop in everyone’s bags, which brought people to the booth. There they could enjoy this photo-op roller coaster ride and play digital versions of classic carnival games. They may win the “all in” social/digital prize!
    10. 10. Fun with Twitter Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved10 The #shoeselfie idea from @hubbubhealth may have been even more clever. For some reason, people (me included) love to take pictures of their feet. In addition to their other activities, careerbuilder invited people to play a cheesy game on Twitter. I’m sure some people rolled their eyes, but I also bet people who played had fun with it.
    11. 11. High Tech and High Touch Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved11 It’s hard to see, but the Vespa has a tablet attached to it. People sit on the Vespa to get a feel for the bike, but they also have to complete a brief survey for their chance to win. Ceridian staff also had individual booths in which they could demo various products.
    12. 12. More Uses for Tablets Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved12 Tablets are a great multi-purpose device. They can run a looped video, allow booth visitors to do a “self-service” demo or run through one with booth staff. And as these and other pictures demonstrate, they can be set up in multiple ways. Tablets have become a virtual Digital Era Expo necessity, especially for software vendors.
    13. 13. INTERESTING SOCIAL AND DIGITAL OFFERINGS
    14. 14. Mobile H&W: Synced • Health and Wellness (H&W) seemed to be the big trend this year, and most of the vendors I talked to were exhibiting brand- new offerings in the space (even if their company was well established). • As evidenced by Synced and other vendors, two big related trends were leveraging mobile devices and enabling employers to be “device agnostic.” • Subscription-based pricing has become the norm. • And of course it’s impossible to avoid the issue of data analytics…

    17. 17. H&W Monitoring: Wellbe Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved17 State of the art – and the future: A multi-media platform that works with a variety of tracking devices.

    20. 20. Communication: One Call Now Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved20 Somewhat lost in the recent emphasis on social media and mobile apps are the continuing importance of more traditional communication channels, like phone, email and text messaging. Solutions like this seem to cover all the bases.
    21. 21. Communication: Advantage Design Group Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved21 This portable kiosk is a great idea for companies with employees who don’t have regular access to computers and for which permanent kiosks aren’t practical. They can be used for new-hire orientation, open enrollment, training, general communication…
    22. 22. C&C: SADA (& Yammer) Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved22 There are lots of great social communication and collaboration (C&C) offerings available, to meet all kinds of environments and needs. And there are service providers like SADA that help companies deploy platforms like Yammer in the most effective ways.
    23. 23. C&C: Intranet Dashboard Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved23 And companies like Intranet Dashboard offer stand-alone platforms that can meet both internal and external communication needs.
    24. 24. Assessment: ZeroRiskHR Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved24 What I particularly like about this company/offering is its blend of high tech (an online assessment tool) and high touch (measuring emotional intelligence and focusing on value and culture fit). It’s a good reminder that the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
    25. 25. HRMS: Kronos Workforce Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved25 Key theme: cloud-based, software-as- a-service applications offer maximum data distribution and flexibility.
    26. 26. HRMS: HR Cloud Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved26 I really like the onboarding feature of this service. To me it’s one of the greatest potential applications of social and digital technology – relatively easy to implement, with almost immediate value for both employees and employers.
    27. 27. Payroll: BitPay Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved27 Well THAT didn’t take long…!
    28. 28. Benefits Platform: BenefitFocus Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved28 Cloud-based, software-as-a-service, mobile- ready… Designed for employers and employees, as well as brokers and others… Lots of plusses for many different users and groups…
    29. 29. Benefits Communication: ForUs Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved29 What’s particularly neat about this offering is that it can easily be customized to an employer’s specific plans, and it is responsive to an individual’s specific interests.

    31. 31. Social Recognition Copyright © 2014, Courtney Shelton Hunt - all rights reserved31 Kudos and Achievers are just two of the many companies offering social recognition solutions. There’s also YouEarnedIt and Globoforce and TemboSocial and…
