Chapter 3.3: Expect the Unexpected

New chapter! Sorry it took a while to get back into the feeling for writing after Christmas and fixing up a flat and being ill and all that jazz. But now! Little recap from the last chapter: Braille fought off an attack from a zombie who left a strange message and feels the family needs outside help. Komei, father of her newborn son, moved in and now tries to unlock Paranormal to calm down the ghosts (who are pretty calm, anyway, but you never know…). And finally, everyone (ok, I) was asking themselves if Diesel would have less than 9 active points… or not. So… here it goes.

Oh, creepy place. What are we doing here, Braille?
„ I‘m looking for help.“
Here?
„ What? It has its own charme, don‘t you think?“

„ Ok, it‘s a bit creepy. But only a little.“

Just… be careful, Braille. Ok?
I wonder who lives in such a place…

Wait – a vampire? You came to seek help from a vampire? You got to be kidding!
„ Shsh, Voice. You know best that odd things are going on in this neighbourhood so I figured I could need a little… supernatural help.“
*sigh* I‘m not sure…
„ Shush. I need to concentrate on talking to him, not you!“

*whisperwhisper*
Braille… there is no one here but me and he doesn‘t know! Why are you whispering?
„ Dunno… just getting into the creepiness of the place.“ *whisper*“
Oh, great. Makes me feel more comfortable right away. *shudder*

„ Hm…“
„ So, what do you say?“
„ I think I know a way to help you, mortal.“
What were you two talking about? Braille!

„ But not right away. The time must be chosen carefully. Return home now, mortal, and I will come and see you when the time is right.“ *poof*
Ieks, he turned into a bat!

„ Ooooooh, great. You scared him off!“
Wait, what? How could I possibly…
„ Ok, maybe not. But now what? I can‘t go home and sit around and wait! He‘s got to help me now ! Shibbles.“
He told you he‘d help you when the time is right… I guess we have to wait for when he thinks it‘s convenient.
„ Aaaargh! I don‘t like that!“
I know. Me, neither. Still, you should get home now. Kepler is alone with the twins… and you know they can be a handful!
Don‘t worry, Braille, we‘ll get this sorted out, with or without our, er, radar-equiped friend.

*sigh* „I guess waiting is really all we can do now. Altough that was rather rude, don‘t you think? At least he agreed to help.
As for Kepler, I‘m not worried about him. He can make mean hamburgers, the one thing the twins would do anything for!“

*sigh* Braille?
„ Yes?“
Please tell me Diesel is going to be a lazy butt, ok?
„ He… could take after his father.“
There‘s still hope then.

Er, what are you doing?
„ I‘m studying cooking. Just in case Diesel takes after me, you know.“
*gulp*
„ Don‘t worry, Voice. At least we‘ll only have one child to worry about with generation four. I‘m really not going to have three pregnancies like Mother and Grandma!“

„ Look, the twins both got an A+ now. Oh, got to go!“

„ To help my son with his birthday, of course!“
Great… only took almost a day too long, didn‘t it?
„ Being sarcastic is my job, Voice.“

Didn‘t you want to grow him up?
„ Awww, but he‘ll never be so cute and small and cuddly…. I mean, I‘m proud that he‘s developing so fine but he‘s got that certain baby smell…“

Finally! Oh, he copied Great-Uncle Möbius‘ hairstyle! Only with brown hair. How cute!

I guess he decided the man who brought bathtubes back is his role model. At least he looks as if he is really enjoying his bath.

„ Congratulations, bro. I‘m sorry you couldn‘t go to college as you wanted.“
„ It‘s ok. I know that getting a good job was more important… and I can still learn a lot at work, right?“

„ He is. I know he‘s sad about not going to college, though…
At least he could fulfill his biggest wish in life already. I‘m so proud of him!“

„ By the way, we can be proud of Komei as well. He‘s been working on those promotions real hard!“

„ And now I got to teach my son how to talk.

„ Well… Komei and I like to „tickle“ each other, too. Heh.“
Aaaalright. That‘s all I need to know.
„ Thought so.“

Braille… not that I mean to critisice your parenting, but.. why are you taking your son to the potty in your underwear?

„ Well, you know, Komei and I have been tickling each other and…“
Ok, ok. At least you aren‘t naked.
„ Exactly.“

„ Blurgh.“
Braille! Are you alright? You didn‘t eat a bad hamburger, did you?
„ I‘m… blurgh… not sure.“
Wait… I didn‘t click anything! You are not… pregnant, are you?
„ Who, me? Ha, very funny, Voice. Never! Probably really just a bad hamburger.“
Ok then… but please, next time use the energizer, ok?

„ I probably won‘t have any other choice. Baily and Hawking usually don‘t leave any of them around long enough to be rotten.“
„ Woooo, hamburgers!“
I see what you mean.
„ They‘ll soon be old enough for Energizers.“
I‘ll be very, very happy about that.

„ Oh, er, Voice?“

„ Remember what you said about hoping Diesel would be lazy?“

„ Well… sorry to say, but he‘s a Momma‘s boy. Just as active as me.“

„ Voice? Are you ok? What was that sound?“
Oh, only my head hitting the desk, Braille. Don‘t worry.
„ At least he‘s only one child.“
I‘m really, really glad you didn‘t have twins, Braille.

Oh, great! Thank you, Drake, how very nice of you! Scaring poor Baily. You are absolutely right, her hunger bar is just way to full. Stupid ghosts.
Hey, Braille, how many more promotions until Komei is able to calm down those ghosts?

Yes, he is. And I knew you‘d be a good Mum, Braille. I just didn‘t expect you‘d want another child, but if you and Komei are ok with that.
„ I thought about it and I didn‘t want Diesel to be an only child…“

„ I know how happy I am to have my siblings, so he should have a brother or sister to play with, too.“
But you‘re not planning of having more children after that, are you?
„ Never! Two pregnancies are enough, thank you.“
Alright, since you and Komei are fine with this, I certainly have no objection.

„ Yes, there is someone at the door… I‘ll go and see who that might me.“

„ This will make you stronger, Mortal…“

„ I‘m feeling great , Voice.“
Are you sure that was a good idea?
„ You heard the Count, Voice. I‘m stronger… now I can make sure no one harms my family!“
Well, I don‘t doubt that but…
„ Don‘t be so pessimistic, Voice! Everything will turn out right… I just know it!“
Author‘s note: Trust me, it didn‘t work that fast. But in the process of trying to lock them into the same room and keeping everyone else out of sight so he wouldn‘t bite the wrong Sim, I didn‘t take any pictures. ;)

I don‘t get it. You and Kepler both are very active, too… but your hunger never dropped so fast.
„ I don‘t understand it, either. But we managed until now, we‘ll manage in the future.“

„ Are you still hungry, Diesel? You can have the rest of my hamburger if you want to. I can go and meditate until we go to school tomorrow.“

And a boy! Uh, great. I mean… well, we can manage twins, we‘ve done that before… of course, not with a vampire in the house… but we‘ll manage.

Yes? Oh, I‘ll think of a name for him in a second. Sorry, I really didn‘t expect twins. How about…
„ Well… to be honest I didn‘t mean that.“

You are kidding, right? Look, Braille, this is not the time for jokes like that! You should be meditating already, your needs are dropping and I really…
„ I‘m NOT JOKING! Argh, this hurts!“

„ Voice? …. Voooooice?“
No more babies! Please, no more babies! *whimper*
„ Don‘t worry. I‘m not going to give birth again.“

„ Pretty sure. It felt like that for a few seconds but now… I‘m fine.“

„ Seems so. … Voice? Are you alright? I heard something fall down.“
Ooooh… I‘m fine… absolutely fine. It‘s just… triplets.
„ I really think I should meditate now.“
Oh, of course. Hurry! We can‘t afford to loose you now.

Am I glad we got the twins to teenhood before this. At least there is always someone around to look after the babies.
So now we have Rouelle, in the dark crib (pulled out from Hawking‘s inventory). She is named after Hilaire Rouelle, a French chemist who discovered urea.
Baily is holding Bayer, named after Karl Josef Bayer, an Austrian chemist who invented the Bayer process of extracting alumina from bauxite, essential for the production of aluminum.
And in the crib that can hardly be seen lies Fleming, whose namesake Sir Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.

Are you ok, Braille? Are you having a headache?
„ No, not really. But you know, after giving birth I went to sleep instead of meditating… and I had a very strange dream.“
A… dream?

„ I saw the zombie that attacked us. Someone was very angry with her for failing… but I couldn‘t see who it was.

And then this person told her that he‘d make sure she wouldn‘t fail next time… and that he had organized help!“
Help?

„ Even more zombies!“
Oh, dear.

„ I know one thing, Voice. This person – whoever it is – is responsible for all this.“
All this… you mean the Apocalypse?
„ Yeah. Think about it! It makes perfect sense! Whoever caused this must be very peeved by all the progress this family has made so far! Of course they would want to stop us, the sooner the better.“
You are right, Braille. This does make perfect sense. I just wonder why anyone would want to cause this state of chaos in the first place, but that‘s not important right now.

„ We‘ll find out some day. But for now there is only one important thing - we can‘t let those zombies attack the family again!“
You are a vampire now, Braille. I don‘t think the zombies stand a chance against you even if there are more than one.
„ Still. We can‘t be too sure about that. I need – reinforcements!“
Rein… Braille, where are you going? Braille?
*sigh* I‘m coming…

„ Well, he helped me the first time… so it‘s worth a try, right?“

„ Voice… now I got a headache. Why could he hear you?“
I have no idea. We really should go home now!
„ You know… at least now we know who we have to look out for.“

Phew. Don‘t worry, Braille got home safely. But why can the Count hear me? And why does he want this neighbourhood to remain in chaos? Is he really responsible for the Apocalypse in the first place? And maybe even for the triplets, somehow? (Triplets! *faints*) What about the mysterious zombie Magellan saw so long ago? Was that the first spy of the Count? Or are there even more dangers the family doesn‘t know about? Braille is right, I got a headache now myself. I hope you enjoyed this update! =>

Kepler is one promotion away from unlocking Law… then I can unlock Politics soon and expand the house! Very much looking forward to that! Hope everything goes fine.
Another career I want to be lifted is Music… not because of the seasons (I love winter) but because I want to try and lift Alien tech.

Triplets? *faints*
I‘m not sure what happened there. I just know that Braille would have gone one giving birth if I hadn‘t forced an error on her – I only thought about that after the third baby, though. Must have been surprise.
I‘m a tiny bit curious how long she‘d have gone on, but… three babies are enough. Besides, I‘m running out of names!
I guess this is all due to me being careless with occupied lot binning. I didn‘t know this was a bad thing to do… well, now I know. And Braille seems to be the center of the glitches (nooooo!), she also had trouble going to work both with the carpool and the car, so I made her quit her job.
For now I only hope that I can finish the challenge before my neighbourhood crashes completely. *gulp*
