Welcome back! Another short note beforehand: While I‘m certain that a bit of myself can be found in some Sims in this story, not everything a character says is necessarily my belief. If that were the case I‘d have to consider myself suffering from multiple personality disorder (especially after writing this chapter ^^) and last time I checked this weren‘t the case. So I hope no one feels offended by anything I write. Just saying… :) But now, on with the story. Well, Magellan… what should I do now? Your daughter won‘t talk to me anymore. How can we keep this family going when she won‘t listen? I‘m so afraid she‘ll even give up on finding out the reason for this apocalypse! I really wish I could ask you to talk to her for me…

I wish we would have done something about the food situation already. I really wanted you to taste something besides gelatin for once… but well, you always like that stuff.

And Braille still won‘t talk to me… oh, what can I do? At least the family is fine, that‘s a relief.

Look at them, Magellan! Aren‘t they adorable? They look very much alike, too. Except for the hair, maybe.
Author‘s note: Yay! The twins have one of my geneticised skintones… one of the two I put between skintone #2 and #3. It‘s Enayla‘s Pixie Multitude Skin „Bronze“. I‘m actually happy that they got both the same skin, it could have been one out of four. Is it very obvious I just love playing with that stuff? ^^

But she reached her goal in life now and maybe she will spend a little more time with her children now!

Oh. It‘s time! And my help? Of course! But where is everybody else?

„ Well, Dad and Kepler are fooling around… men.
And I really don‘t want to ask Mum for help! So who else is there but you?“
Er… I‘ll ignore that for now. Don‘t worry, Braille, it‘ll be over soon.
„ Easy for you to say!“
But it‘s true. I know you‘re afraid… but just breath and stay calm, ok?

„ It‘s not just the birth...“
It‘s not? But what else…?
„ Shibbles. I guess I should tell you….“

„ I‘m… *mumble*

Um. Wow. Braille… I don‘t know what to say. Is that the reason you never wanted to get married and have a family?

It‘ll be over in a minute, Braille. Just… wait, do you Sims push?

„ Voice… do you… think I can be a better mother than my own was?“
Oh Braille! I‘m sure of that! Don‘t forget, you are also your father‘s daughter. I don‘t see why you can‘t be as good as a parent as he was. And he trusts you, too. He wanted you to be heir, didn‘t he?

„ Well, yes… I don‘t have much of a choice now, anyway. *sigh*

„ Maybe he‘ll invent something like that, too.“
I‘m sure he will.

„ What‘s up, Voice?“
Well, I just wanted to know… you‘re not that angry anymore about me, um, clicking Diesel into existance, are you?
„ Well… it wasn‘t really nice of you.“
I know.

„ But if you hadn‘t done it, I might have never discovered that I can be a good mum. Don‘t get me wrong, I still don‘t want to get married! But for that clicking… forgive and forget, I‘d say.“
Phew. Thank you..
„ Just one thing.“
Yes?
„ Don‘t you dare do that again. Ever .“
Hehe, ok.

Say, Braille, why did Hawking go to school and Baily didn‘t?
„ They grew up too late for the school bus. Hawking went to school by car, even if he didn‘t have to but Baily stayed at home. Consider it lucky coincidence, we don‘t have to teach them how to do homework at the same day.“
Oh. I see. Well. I can live with that.
Author‘s note: Pure coincidence… but I‘m not complaining. ;)

„ See, Voice? What did I tell you? It‘s Dad who looks after us.

„ I‘m so glad he stays at home to look after Diesel… I‘m still working on those promotions, you see? If it wasn‘t for Dad I‘m not sure if I could manage them so fast.“
I know, you father has always placed his family first. But I still don‘t understand why your mother…
„ Psh, don‘t mention her. She was upset I had a baby without being married, can you believe her?“
She was? Sorry, that‘s actually rather my mistake than yours…
„ Forget it. I can‘t believe she really thinks that way. I mean, she‘s the best proof that marriage does not make you a good parent. And you are right, I can be a good Mom to Diesel, despite of what I might have gotten from her.“
I never doubted that.

„ I know, Voice. And guess what?“
Uh… you found a new friend?
„ Hu? Oh, him. No, he just followed me home, not sure why. He‘s kinda cute, though… oh, but that‘s beside the point! I‘m a Hall of Famer now!“
Oh, Braille, that‘s great!
„ Thanks. I discovered some notes of my grandfather on the computer… about a new exercising technique?“
Yes, I remember those. Drake never got acknowledged for his work, though.
„ Well, turns out that his approach was a good one… and with everything Uncle Möbius and Aunt Mendela found out about the radiation I was able to adjust Grandpa Drake‘s idea to make it work! Now we can move large things again! And I made sure that they would note my grandfather‘s part in this, too.“

Oh, Braille, he‘d have loved that!
„ You think?“
I‘m sure.
„ Great… say, why is my mother hugging the father of my son?“
Uh… yeah, well. I think she‘s asking Komei to move in.
„ What??“
I smell trouble.

„ I can‘t believe it! She really asked him to move in – without even bothering to ask me first!“
He‘s got a nice hairstyle now, though.

Sorry. Well, Braille, I think it‘s time you have a little talk with your mother.
„ You know what, Voice? I think you‘re damn right!“

„ Yes, what is it, Braille?“

„ Well, I happen to need to talk to you, too. How long do you think this will be going on?“

„ Going on? What do you mean?“
„ Really, I‘m astounded. What do you think I mean? It‘s you bringing disgrace to your family I‘m talking about, or course!“
„ Er… excuse me? I‘m… disgracing our family?“
„ Having a child without being married – what would you call it?“

„ Hehehe. Oh, please, mother. You can‘t be serious! Who cares if I‘m married or not? Diesel has a loving family that looks after him, do you really think he cares if his mother wears a ring or not?“

„ Well, maybe not now… but later he might. And for now – I care!“
„ Wait… you care? You of all people? How come? You haven‘t cared about any of your children for a long time! So why does it matter to you now?“

„ Watch your tounge, missy! I am your mother!“
„ Yeah, as if… And don‘t call me „missy“, I‘m a grown-up woman!“
„ Shut it! What do you believe people are going to think about our family if you don‘t marry the father of your child? Don‘t you think they might wonder what kind of a role model I am in my position? This could literally cost me my job I have worked so hard for!“

„ Yes, you worked hard for it, alright! And you forgot about your family while doing that! Don‘t you think it‘s a little hypocritical to picture yourself as a great Education Minister when your children were educated by everyone else but you?!“

„ I refuse to listen to that any longer! I am your mother and you do as I say. You are going to marry Komei and that‘s that.“
„ We‘ll see about that…“ *heads off*
Braille! Wait!

Braille! Are you ok?
„ Voice… yes, I‘m fine. Can you believe her? I now know I‘m definitely not at all like my mother. This is it, I‘m finished with her.“
I can‘t believe she turned out that way, Braille. I really liked her at first… but I guess she really wanted to achieve her lifetime want badly.
„ It doesn‘t matter. And now, I need to find Komei and talk to him… I wonder what Mother told him. I have to sort things out.“
Of course.

Oh, you two sorted things out quite quickly. Heh.
*whispers* „Well, Komei and I… aren‘t so different. If you know what I mean. We agreed that he‘ll stay here… Diesel has a right to get to know his father, after all. But we have no plans for marriage or anything… wait, we don‘t have to get married, do we?“
No, you don‘t. I think after you had Diesel it‘s just fair that you work out things with Komei yourself. So no marriage unless you roll a want for it.
„ Highly unlikely.“

Some days later…
„ Braille… now that you‘re about to take over the family, I want you to have this…“
„ Oh, what‘s that, Dad?“
„ Just something your grandma gave to me. I don‘t need it anymore.“
„ A mobile phone? Thanks, Dad.“
„ I know you could have bought one now… with the streets safe again. But…“
„ Oh, no. This one‘s better, anyway. Thank you, Dad.“

„ I‘m very proud of you, Braille. You know that.“
„ Dad…“
„ No, don‘t say anything. I know you‘ll do fine.“
„ I love you, dad.“
„ I love you too, honey.“

„ Voice says hi.“
„ Hello Creator… take good care of my little girl once I‘m gone, will you?“

He‘s… leaving?
„ Yes… you know, Voice, just a few hours ago Mother moved out. Without even telling Dad! He does not say so but I know he‘s going to miss her… here everything reminds him of her.“
Aww… my poor Magellan! Where is he going? We can‘t let him live alone…
„ He won‘t be alone, he‘s moving in with Aunt Marie. Right across the street? I‘ll make sure we‘ll see each other at least every other day, don‘t worry.“
Ok then. It might really be for the better. And he‘s close by.

„ I‘m going to miss him, that‘s for sure. But I‘m glad Aunt Marie isn‘t living alone, anymore… she said she‘s fine, but... what was that noise?“

*gasp* „Who… shibbles, what is that?“
Er, who… what?
„ Just look… outside the door.“

Uh oh.

„ Oooooh, shibbles. I smell trouble.“
I smell… something.
„ Kepler! Hey, bro! Get your nose out of the book, there‘s a… well, whatever that is outside!“
„ Hu… what?“
It‘s a zombie, Braille.
„ Whatever. Bro, go upstairs and make sure the kids don‘t come down! I‘ll handle this.“
„ Oh damn… alright, Sis, but be careful. I‘ll be within earshot.“
Um… maybe it‘s a nice zombie?
„ We‘ll see… but I rather not take my chances. And besides… Dad told me what he saw that one day. I have a creepy feeling.“
Yes, makes sense they are connected somehow. I‘m with Kepler. Be careful.

„ Uh… hi.“
*groan*
„ Nice to meet you, too. Any special reason you‘re showing up on our doorstep at this late hour?“

*groan* „You… will fail.“
„ Aaaalright. Eww, you stink. No offense.“
„ I was sent here.“
„ Ooooookay. And who sent you?“
*whispers* „Did her brain rot already or are all zombies that dense? My creepy feeling is gone.“
I don‘t know, to be honest. But she‘s not very intimidating, that‘s for sure.
„ I was sent here to make sure you fail.“
„ Creepy feeling coming back.“

„ Look, maggot-brain! I don‘t have time for little guessing games! So either say what you want here or buzz off! I‘ve got other things to do right now than standing here and freezing my but off while trying to guess from your smell how many decades ago you died!“
Somehow I don‘t think she liked that little speech…

Uh oh. Again.

„ Don‘t worry, Voice… ouch! I got… ow! Got her!“
You sure?

Ok. You were sure. Phew, am I glad you needed all those body points for your job, Braille!
„ Oh, me too, Voice, me too.“

„ Get off our property, maggot-brain!“
*groan* „It‘s not over yet…“

„ As if you‘d dare come back again!“

„ But… but what if she does?“ *sniff*
Braille? Are you ok?
„ I‘m… I‘m not sure.“
You finished her off easily, Braille. You‘re all safe now.
„ I know. But her being here proves something.“
Yes… I had the same thought. Someone does not want your family to find out what happened here…
„ Which must mean we‘re getting closer to the solution. That‘s good. I‘m just afraid next time we won‘t get away so easily… I just hope I can protect our family.“
You‘re not alone, Braille. There are Kepler and Komei and…
„ I think we need someone else. And I already know who I‘m going to ask for some help...“

… .. I seem to have a liking for cliffhangers…. Sorry, it‘s not really intendet, just always works out that way plotwise. And ok, I wanted this chapter out before Christmas. ;) So now… who sent this zombie and why did she attack – or try to attack – my Apocalypse family? Who will Braille see for help? Will Diesel get his father‘s nose? :) Restrictions, restrictions… will Kepler lift Law? Will Komei lift Paranormal? (Another try. ^^) And I already know I want to lift Politics with one of the twins, but what else? I‘m torn between Music (stargazing to lift Alien tech!) and Business… or maybe Criminal? Well, there is some time to decide left.

Fun Facts:
Braille: Lifted Athletics & fulfilled LTW at the same time! (Yaaaay!)
Kepler: Maxed his skills for LTW (yay again!) as teen and is now at the top of the Teen Law Career.
Komei Howe: Libra; 2/8/2/4/7; LTW => Woohoo 20 Sims. (I knew it…)
I think Diesel is a bit less active (I sure hope he isn‘t completely lazy, though) because he doesn‘t get a bottle stuffed into his face every minute or so. Ok, probably just wishful thinking. You‘re welcome to make a guess with me… it will all be solved after Christmas. ;)
