Migration Cockpit - Introduction <ul><li>Migration cockpit must be installed in all clients where there will be a migration </li></ul><ul><li>Migration cockpit can be assessed via transaction CNV_MBT_NGLM </li></ul><ul><li>A project must be created in the migration cockpit which contains packages corresponding to the required migration scenarios </li></ul><ul><li>Each migration package includes all migration activities that must be performed for a successful migration </li></ul>

  4. 4. Migration Cockpit – Create Migration Packages <ul><li>Select the package corresponding to target migration scenario </li></ul><ul><li>For example, package 3 = Migration with Document Splitting </li></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Setup Phase Activities <ul><ul><li>Migration plans must be created in setup phase </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Must have separate migration plans for company codes with and without document splitting. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Must activate validation of document splitting with a date no later than the migration date. </li></ul></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Checkup Phase Activities <ul><li>First check in the checkup phase is that the new GL is inactive! </li></ul><ul><li>Checkup phase contains checks that new functionality has been configured correctly ie. document splitting, profit center assignments for segments etc. </li></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Preparation Phase Activities <ul><ul><li>There are many preparation activities including posting of any parked documents for example </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Check account control settings checks consistency of open items and the program can have long run times </li></ul></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Migration Phase Activities <ul><li>Two work lists must be created: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Open Items (program FAGL_MIG_OPITEMS_FILL) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Current year documents (program FAGL_MIG_RPITEMS_FILL) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Creating work lists activates the migration plans </li></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Migration Phase Activities (prior year) <ul><ul><li>These activities migrate the documents from the previous year </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Open items must be enriched with a BAdI </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Long run times for process document split and create G/L line items. Must update database statistics and indexes </li></ul></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Migration Phase Activities (current year) <ul><ul><li>These activities migrate the documents from the current year </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Documents are already split as document splitting configuration in in production </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Some documents may need to be split manually </li></ul></ul>
  14. 14. Migration Cockpit – Migration Phase Activities (Evaluation) <ul><li>These activities evaluate the completeness of the migration. </li></ul><ul><li>The activity Reset Data allows the migration to be restarted in the event of errors </li></ul>

Migration Cockpit – Migration Phase Activities (BAdi) <ul><li>Documents from previous years do not contain split information </li></ul><ul><li>Open items must be enriched and also balances carried forward </li></ul><ul><li>Note: Open items such as vendor lines can only be assigned to one split characteristic </li></ul>
  16. 16. Migration Cockpit – Validation Phase Activities <ul><li>Final validation of financials </li></ul><ul><li>Compare balance sheets between old GL and new GL </li></ul><ul><li>Obtain acceptance from relevant parties </li></ul>
  17. 17. Migration Cockpit – Activation Phase Activities <ul><li>The new GL is activated! </li></ul><ul><li>Migration is closed and existing functionality such as classic GL, classic PCA, reconciliation ledger etc. can be deactivated </li></ul>
